The printer does not print
A receipt or a bill did not come out: what to check, in order, and how to print it again.
On this page
When a receipt, a bill or a report does not come out, the POS tells you at once, on whatever screen you are on. The payment is already saved: only the paper is missing.
The message
- What did not print, and why: the printer is switched off or unplugged, is out of paper, has its cover open, or reports an error.
- The paper, the bill and the printer.
- Try again: sends the same paper to the same printer, once.
- OK: closes the message. Nothing waits for it.
On Android the message is a window over the screen, with the same buttons.
Check in this order
- Check the printer is switched on and its cable is plugged in.
- Check it has paper and its cover is shut.
- Press Try again.
- Still nothing? Tap ⚙, 🔌 Hardware, then 🖨️ Printer. Under Receipt printer, Nothing chosen — bills will not print means no printer is set: press USB or IP and choose it.
- Press Test print. Sent to POS-80. Check the paper. means the POS reached the printer.
- Print the receipt again: ⚙, Last bill, choose the bill, Reprint.
A USB printer must be allowed once on each tablet. When Android asks, tap Allow. If the message says This tablet has not been allowed to use the printer yet, tap Try again and choose Allow.
If it still fails
- No receipt printer is set for this POS. Set one under Printer.: set the receipt printer, as in step 4.
- A network printer does not answer: under IP, check the address is the printer's own address on your network, then press Test print.
- The printer did not confirm the receipt. It may still be waiting in Windows.: press Cancel the waiting print, then Try again. Or press Keep it waiting, and it prints when the printer wakes.
Every print that failed is in the Print log, with the reason. If you need help, send the POS log to support.
