Taxes & Charges: Apply to
A government tax's Apply to tab. Tick the outlets that charge it on the dishes set to Follow Outlet (Charged at this outlet), see what each outlet charges now, Save outlets, and the question that shows what each outlet charges before and after.
On this page
A government tax's Apply to tab is the list of your outlets, one tick each: Charged at this outlet. A ticked outlet charges this tax on every dish set to Follow Outlet.
It is the same answer as the outlet's own Tax on this outlet (Outlets, the outlet, Money), seen from the tax's side. Ticking an outlet here gives it this tax beside the taxes it already charges; unticking takes only this tax off it. Change it on either screen.
Only a government tax has this tab. The service charge and a charge of your own are charged at every outlet that follows them, and switched off on Where it is not charged.
Before you start
- You need Taxes & Charges, Edit, and the right to edit outlets (Outlets, Edit). Without them the list can be read but not changed.
- The tax must be saved and switched on.
- Only the outlets you work at are listed.
Open the Apply to tab
- In the menu, under MASTERS, click General Setup, then Taxes & Charges.
- Click Apply to on the tax's row. The tax's window opens on its Apply to tab.
The tab, part by part
- Apply to: the second tab of a government tax.
- The line at the top: which tax, its name and rate, and which dishes the ticks are about.
- An outlet: its code and name, and Charged at this outlet. Ticked, the outlet charges this tax. A switched-off outlet shows a grey switched off.
- Charges now: what a dish that follows the outlet is charged there today, for example SST6 6%, added on top of the menu price., SST6 6%, already included in the menu price, or no tax.
- will charge it / will stop: an amber mark on every outlet whose tick you changed and have not saved yet.
- A grey note under an outlet: something to know there, such as Tax is switched off at this outlet, so no tax is charged there whatever is ticked., or that one of its taxes is charged on the price plus the tax before it.
- The note under the list: what a tick does and does not change. It never changes whether the outlet's menu prices include tax.
- When you save: how many outlets start or stop charging the tax. It shows once you change a tick.
- Close: closes the window. Ticks not saved are dropped.
- Save outlets: asks first, then saves. Only the outlets whose tick you changed are sent; an outlet you did not touch is left as it is, whatever somebody else did to it meanwhile.
Charge a tax at an outlet, or stop
- Tick the outlets that should charge the tax, and untick the ones that should not.
- Click Save outlets. The back office asks first. Its title says what is about to happen: Charge SST6 at this outlet?, Stop charging SST6 at these outlets? or Change where SST6 is charged?
- Read each line: what each outlet charges now, and what it will charge.
- Click Continue to save, or Cancel to go back. Nothing is saved before Continue.
- The big green SAVED names the outlets, for example Applied: BR2 (Kopitiam Demo Bangsar).
When an outlet goes from no tax to some (or back), the question adds a line about its service charge, for example Its service charge and any charge of your own are taxed from then on too (SVCTAX 6%, as set on the service charge in Masters > Taxes).
Every POS at the outlet charges the new taxes on dishes rung after its next sync. Lines already on a bill keep the taxes they were rung with.
