The Kitchen sub-tab of a POS decides how its orders reach the kitchen, and, for some POS, which kitchen stations it serves. Which dish goes to which station is set on the dish itself; which printer a station prints on is set on a POS, under Hardware, Printer.

A Main, a Sub, a Waiter and a kitchen display have this sub-tab. An order board and a kiosk do not.

Before you start

  • You are an Administrator or a Manager, and you may change the outlet.
  • The kitchen stations exist: Room, Kitchen Stations. They are one list for the whole restaurant, the same at every outlet. See Kitchen Stations.
  • Each dish's stations are ticked on its Kitchen tab. See Items: Kitchen.

Open it

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click Outlet, then Outlets.
  2. Click Edit on the outlet's row, then the POS terminals tab.
  3. Click Edit on the POS's row, then the Kitchen sub-tab.

The sub-tab, part by part

Kitchen, on a Main POS: how its orders print, and the stations of its queued tickets.
  1. Kitchen printing: for a Main, a Sub or a Waiter, how its own orders print in the kitchen. Direct: This POS prints its orders straight to the kitchen printers, even while the internet is down. Through the queue: For a POS that cannot reach the kitchen printers. Its orders print at a main POS once the cloud has them, so they wait while the internet is down.
  2. Stations: shown for a Main, for a Sub with a USB kitchen printer plugged into it, and for a kitchen display. One tick per kitchen station, as code — name.
  3. A station: tick it to serve it. A station that is switched off, or that has no screen when this is a kitchen display, still shows while it is ticked, marked (switched off: not used) or (no screen: not used), so you can untick it.
  4. The line under them: what the ticks mean for this kind of POS (below).
  5. A warning: shown when the ticks would leave the POS serving nothing, or a screen showing every station by mistake (below).
  6. Save: saves every sub-tab of Settings at once.

What the stations mean for each kind of POS

POSWhat its ticked stations areNone ticked
Main terminalThe stations whose queued tickets (QR orders, back-office reprints) this POS prints on network printers.Every station.
Sub terminal with a USB kitchen printerA USB kitchen printer is plugged into this POS, so it also takes queued tickets (QR orders, back-office reprints) for network printers at these stations.Every station.
Kitchen displayThe stations this screen shows. For the expeditor's screen, tick only the expeditor station: it takes finished orders from every kitchen screen by itself.Every station with a screen.

A Sub without a USB kitchen printer, and a Waiter, have Kitchen printing alone.

A waiter tablet on Wi-Fi far from the kitchen printers can send its tickets through the cloud instead:

  1. On the Waiter's Kitchen sub-tab, choose Through the queue in Kitchen printing.
  2. Click Save.
  3. On the Main POS's Kitchen sub-tab, make sure the stations those tickets go to are ticked, or none, which means every station.

The tablet's row then shows a grey Queue badge in Status. Its tickets print at the Main once the cloud has them, so they wait while the internet is down.
