Promotions: when, where and how it applies
The When and Where and how boxes of every promotion. Days, hours and valid dates; the outlet and the channel (POS, QR menu); applied automatically or by the cashier, with a manager; priority, stacking, cannot be combined, lines discounted by hand, and switching it off.
On this page
Every promotion, whatever its kind, ends with two boxes: When it is on, and Where and how it applies. They decide on which bills the promotion even tries, who puts it on, and what happens when two promotions want the same dish.
Before you start
- You need the right to change Promotions (see Promotions).
- Read the guide of the promotion's kind first: Item or category discount, Happy hour, Buy X get Y or Bill total tiers.
When, part by part
Lunch set 15% off
A percentage or an amount off each unit of the items or categories you pick.
When
Inclusive. Blank = no end.
5- Days: one chip per day, Monday first; blue is on. Every day appears beside them while a day is off.
- Hours: All day, or Between two times by the outlet's clock. A happy hour has no All day: it always has hours. See Happy hour for windows past midnight.
- When it is judged: an item discount or a happy hour is judged per line, at the time the line was rung. A buy X get Y or a bill total is judged at the bill's time: the line says Judged at the time the bill is printed, or now.
- Valid from: the first day. Blank means from now.
- Valid to: the last day, that day included. Blank means no end.

Where and how
The POS offers it; the cashier applies it to a bill.
8Priority *Higher is tried first. Between two exclusive promotions, the higher wins.
9Display order *- Outlet: All outlets, or one outlet (its code and name). A promotion of one outlet never applies at another.
- Channel: POS and QR menu, POS only or QR menu only. QR menu is the guest's own phone ordering page. A kiosk counts as a POS: its bill is made by its Main POS.
- Applied: Automatically puts it on every bill it fits, by itself (hint: On every bill it fits, by itself.). By the cashier means the POS offers it and the cashier puts it on a bill (hint: The POS offers it; the cashier applies it to a bill.).
- Priority: a whole number; promotions are tried highest first. Between two promotions marked Cannot be combined, the higher wins.
- Display order: the place in the Promotions list, lowest first. It does not change what a bill gets.
- Stacks on top of other promotions: ticked, it applies beside the others. Unticked (usual), the lines it lands on are taken: no promotion of lower priority applies to them after it. On a bill total: Otherwise a tier locks the bill: no lower-priority tier after it.
- Cannot be combined: when it applies, it is the only promotion or voucher on the bill. The others say why ("cannot be combined with …"). A discount a manager keys is never blocked.
- Skip lines the cashier discounted by hand: ticked on every new promotion. A line the cashier discounted by hand gets no promotion. A bill total has no such tick.
- Needs a manager to apply: only for By the cashier. The POS lets only a manager apply it.
- On: untick to switch it off. Switched off, it stays on the bills that used it.
Automatically, or by the cashier
Automatically suits a promotion every guest gets: a happy hour, buy 2 get 1. The POS, the kiosk and the QR menu (as its channel allows) put it on as soon as the bill fits.
By the cashier suits a promotion only some guests get: a student lunch, a staff meal, a birthday. On the POS, the cashier opens the bill's Promotions button. Each promotion that fits shows Tap to apply and what it saves; one that needs a manager shows Needs a manager: ask one to sign in on this POS to apply it.

A promotion applied by the cashier is tapped again to take it off. A guest never applies one: a promotion By the cashier cannot be QR menu only.
Which promotion wins
When several promotions fit one bill:
- They are tried by Priority, highest first.
- One that does not stack takes the lines it lands on; a lower one skips them ("a higher-priority promotion already took those lines").
- One that Cannot be combined and applies stands alone: no other promotion, tier or voucher is used beside it.
- Item promotions come off the lines first; a bill total comes after them, on what is left.
