Promotions: Bill total tiers

Spend over an amount and get money or a percentage off the bill, with several tiers (RM 50 gets RM 5 off, RM 100 gets 10% off). Spend from, the discount and its cap, what the spend counts, and where it comes in the bill's sums.

A bill total tiers promotion takes money off the whole bill when it is big enough: spend RM 50, get RM 5 off; spend RM 100, get 10% off. Each tier is a spend and what it gives. The highest tier the bill reaches is the one that applies.

Before you start

  • You need the right to change Promotions (see Promotions).
  • Decide whether the spend counts the whole bill or only some dishes (for example, food but not drinks).

Start one

  1. Under MASTERS, click Menu, then Promotions.
  2. Click the card + Bill total tiers. The page New bill total tiers opens, with one empty tier.
  3. Type a Code and a Name, such as SPEND and Spend more, save more.

What it gives, part by part

Two tiers: RM 5.00 off from RM 50, and 10% off (up to RM 30) from RM 100.
  1. Spend from: the spend this tier starts at. A bill of RM 50.00 or more reaches the first tier above.
  2. Discount off the bill: the number, then % or amount. A new tier starts at amount.
  3. Cap: the most this tier may take off the bill. It is meant for a percentage: 10% of a big bill. none (blank) means no cap.
  4. ✕: takes the tier away.
  5. + Add a tier: adds an empty tier under the others. On Save, the tiers are put in order, lowest spend first.
  6. What the spend is: the bill after the line discounts (the cashier's and the item promotions'). The tier comes off before any voucher and before the manager's discount on the whole bill.
  7. Minimum spend: a spend below which no tier applies. Usually blank: the lowest tier already is a minimum.
  8. Counts the spend on: which dishes the spend counts, added as on an item discount (Category or Item, exclude, Add). With no chip: Every item on the bill. With chips, only those dishes count towards the tiers, and the discount is taken off them.

How the tiers are read

With the two tiers above:

The bill, after line discountsTier reachedOff the bill
RM 45.00nonenothing: "below its minimum spend"
RM 50.00from 50.00RM 5.00
RM 99.90from 50.00RM 5.00
RM 100.00from 100.00RM 10.00
RM 400.00from 100.00RM 30.00, the cap

Only one tier applies to a bill: the highest one reached. The tiers do not add up.

Make "spend RM 50, get RM 5 off"

  1. In the first tier, type 50 in Spend from and 5 in Discount off the bill, and keep amount.
  2. For a second tier, click + Add a tier and fill it in, such as 100 and 10 %, with a Cap of 30.
  3. Leave Counts the spend on empty, so the whole bill counts. Or add the categories that count, such as Food.
  4. Set When and Where and how (see When, where and how it applies), and click Create.

Where it comes in the bill's sums

The bill is worked in this order, each step on what the one before left:

  1. Each line: the cashier's discount on the line, then the item promotions (item discounts, happy hours, buy X get Y), then an item voucher.
  2. The bill: the spend tier, then a voucher for the whole bill, then the manager's discount on the whole bill.

So a tier sees the bill after its happy hours, and a voucher for the whole bill sees the bill after its tier.

Two tier promotions on one bill

  • The tier promotion with the higher priority goes first.
  • Unless it stacks (Stacks on top of other promotions, under Where and how), a tier that applies locks the bill: no tier promotion of lower priority applies after it. Its hint says Otherwise a tier locks the bill: no lower-priority tier after it.
  • A tier promotion has no Skip lines the cashier discounted by hand tick: it works on the bill, not on lines.

It is judged at the bill's time: Judged at the time the bill is printed, or now.
