Items: where their tax comes from

Move many ticked dishes to Follow Outlet, or back to their own taxes, in one go. Every dish is charged before and after at every outlet and order type, and each one whose money moves is confirmed by you first.

A dish's tax comes from one of two places: the outlet on the bill (Follow Outlet), or the dish's own taxes. Where their tax comes from… moves many ticked dishes from one to the other at once.

Only where the tax comes from is changed. Each dish keeps its own taxes underneath, exactly as they are, so moving the dishes back later brings their own taxes back with them.

Before anything is saved, the back office charges every ticked dish twice, before and after, at every outlet under every order type. A dish whose money would move is listed, and must be confirmed by you, one by one.

Before you start

  • You need Items, Edit in your back office access group.
  • Each outlet's taxes are ticked on Outlets, the outlet, Money. Follow Outlet charges those.
  • This works on the dishes ticked on one page of the list. For more, do it page by page.

Open it

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click Menu, then Items.
  2. Tick the dishes, or tick the heading's tick for the whole page.
  3. In the blue bar above the list, press Where their tax comes from…. The window Tax on 12 dishes opens, and starts charging them at once.

  1. Follow Outlet: the ticked dishes are taxed as the outlet on the bill is. The window opens on this choice.
  2. Its own taxes: the ticked dishes go back to the taxes ticked on each one's own Tax & charges tab.
  3. The rule: only the source changes; each dish keeps its own taxes.
  4. The summary: how many dishes were charged, at how many outlets and order types, and how many would be charged differently. While it works it says Charging every dish twice, before and after…
  5. The amber box: the dishes whose money would move. Nothing is saved until each is confirmed.
  6. A dish to confirm: its code and name, and under it each place it would change: the outlet, the order type, and the taxes before and after. Tick it to say yes.
  7. Save: grey until every dish in the amber box is ticked.

Move dishes to Follow Outlet

  1. Tick the dishes and press Where their tax comes from…. Follow Outlet is already chosen.
  2. Read the summary. Not one of them is charged differently — the same money, before and after. means it is safe: go to step 4.
  3. If the amber box lists dishes, read each one. Tick the ones you agree to. A dish that must not change: close the window, untick it on the list, and start again.
  4. Press Save.
  5. The big green SAVED says 12 dishes moved to "Follow Outlet". Every POS picks it up on its next sync.

Move dishes back to their own taxes

  1. Tick the dishes and press Where their tax comes from….
  2. Choose Its own taxes. The dishes are charged again, before and after.
  3. Confirm any dish in the amber box, and press Save.

Each dish gets back the taxes it had before it followed the outlet.

Lines you may also see

  • 2 ticked dish(es) are switched off, so they are charged nowhere and are not compared. They are still moved.
  • 3 dish(es) would have different taxes written onto the line while charging exactly the same money. Those do not need confirming. The bill's money is the same; only the taxes named on its lines change.
  • None of the dishes ticked is charged anywhere, so there is nothing to compare. Every ticked dish is switched off. Save stays grey.

What if…
