A happy hour is an item discount that is only on at certain times: 20% off coffee from 16:00 to 19:00, Monday to Friday, or beer at RM 9.90 from 21:00 to 01:00. It is the same promotion as an Item or category discount, with hours it must have.

What makes it a happy hour: each dish is judged at the time it was rung. A coffee rung at 18:55 keeps its discount when the bill is paid at 19:30.

Before you start

  • You need the right to change Promotions (see Promotions).
  • Decide the hours by the outlet's own clock: the POS judges them by the outlet's time.

Start one

  1. Under MASTERS, click Menu, then Promotions.
  2. Click the card + Happy hour. The page New happy hour opens, already set from 16:00 to 19:00, every day.
  3. Type a Code and a Name, such as HH1 and Kopi Happy Hour.
  4. Fill in What it gives as for an item discount: the Discount, and under Applies to the dishes or categories. Or choose Each dish its own price (basket) to give each dish a happy-hour price of its own (see Each dish its own price (basket)).

When, part by part

The When box of a happy hour: the days, the hours, and the valid dates.
  1. Days: one chip per day, Monday first. A blue chip is on. Click a chip to switch that day on or off.
  2. Every day: switches every day on at once. It shows only while some day is off.
  3. From: when the happy hour starts, by the outlet's clock.
  4. To: when it ends. An end earlier than the start runs past midnight: 21:00 to 01:00 ends at one in the morning. 00:00 as the end means midnight.
  5. The line under the hours says in words when it is on, such as On 16:00–19:00, Mon–Fri. Check it before you save.
  6. Judged at the time it was rung: each dish keeps the price of the moment it was rung, whenever the bill is printed or paid.
  7. Valid from: the first day it runs. Blank means from now.
  8. Valid to: the last day it runs, that day included. Blank means no end.

An item discount has the same When box, with All day and Between above the times. A happy hour has no All day: it always has hours.

Set the days and hours

  1. Under Days, click the days to switch off, for example Sat and Sun.
  2. In the first time box, type the start, such as 16:00. In the second, the end, such as 19:00.
  3. Read the line under them: On 16:00–19:00, Mon–Fri.
  4. Optional: a Valid from and a Valid to for a happy hour that runs for one month only.
  5. Set Where and how (see When, where and how it applies) and click Create.

A happy hour past midnight

  1. Type the start, such as 21:00, and an end earlier than it, such as 01:00. The line says On 21:00–01:00 (past midnight), ….
  2. Tick the days with care: the day is the outlet's calendar day at the moment the dish is rung. A beer rung at 00:30 on Saturday is a Saturday beer, even inside Friday night's happy hour.
  3. So for Friday night until 01:00 on Saturday, tick Fri and Sat.

Change an item discount into a happy hour, or back

A happy hour and an item discount are one kind of promotion. A saved one can move between the two:

  1. Open the promotion. At the top, click Happy hour (or Item or category discount).
  2. On Happy hour, set the hours. On Item or category discount, choose All day under Hours to have none.
  3. Click Save.

An item discount saved with hours is listed as a Happy hour.

At the POS

  • The discount appears on each line rung inside the hours, under the promotion's name. A line rung outside them has none.
  • The POS judges by its own clock, which is the outlet's time. It works offline too.
  • When the bill is open across the end of the happy hour, the lines rung before keep their discount, and new ones are rung at the normal price.
  • Asked why a dish has no discount, the POS says outside its hours or days, and Try it says outside its days or hours.
