Promotions: each dish its own price (basket)

Give each dish in an item discount or a happy hour a price or a % off of its own, in one promotion (beer at RM 9.90, coffee half price), with what each will sell at shown before you save. The basket table, set meals, the cap, and a discount for everything else.

Instead of one discount for every dish, an item discount or a happy hour can give each dish its own price: Tiger Beer at RM 9.90, Kopi O 50% off, the set lunch 10% off. The dishes and their prices are the promotion's basket. The table shows what each dish will sell at before you save.

Before you start

  • You need the right to change Promotions (see Promotions).
  • Every POS that rings bills must run an app that prices a basket. The page checks them (see Before the choice opens).
  • The normal prices shown are those of the outlet you are working in.

Choose the basket

  1. Open an item discount or a happy hour, or start one from its card on the Promotions list.
  2. Under What it gives, choose Each dish its own price (basket). The Basket table appears, empty: No dishes yet. Search below and add each dish with its own price.

The basket, part by part

A happy-hour basket: each dish at its own price or % off, and what it sells at.
  1. Each dish its own price (basket): the basket instead of one discount for all.
  2. Dish: one row per dish. A dish is in the basket once.
  3. Normal price: the dish's own price at the outlet you are working in.
  4. Priced as: Happy-hour price (on an item discount: Promotion price), a price per unit; or % off. A set meal can only take % off: its price includes the upgrades its guests choose, and a fixed price would give those away. The row says a set meal: % off only, so its upgrades stay paid for.
  5. Value: the price (such as 9.90, in sen at most) or the percentage (more than 0, at most 100).
  6. Sells at: what one of the dish sells at, before its add-ons. above its normal price: no saving means the price typed is not below the normal one: the POS then charges the normal price, never more. held there by the cap per line means the cap decides the figure.
  7. ✕: takes the dish out of the basket.
  8. Add a dish: search by name or code…: type part of a name or code and click the dish. The list shows each dish's code and normal price; one already in says (already in). A dish is added at Happy-hour price (a set meal at % off), with the value to fill in.
  9. Cap per line: the most one line may get off. It holds for the basket too.
  10. Minimum spend: the bill must reach this first, after manual discounts.
  11. Everything else gets: optional. One discount for other dishes, besides the basket, such as 10 %. Blank means only the dishes in the basket get anything.
  12. Everything else is: the dishes or categories that get Everything else gets. With nothing here it reads Nothing else — only the dishes in the basket.

The add-ons (modifiers) chosen with a dish stay at their own price: the basket price is for the dish itself, per unit.

Make a basket

  1. Choose Each dish its own price (basket).
  2. In Add a dish: search by name or code…, type tiger and click Tiger Beer. A row appears.
  3. Keep Happy-hour price and type 9.90 in Value. Sells at says RM 9.90.
  4. Add the next dish. For a percentage, choose % off and type it, such as 50.
  5. Optional: under Everything else gets, a discount for other dishes, and under Everything else is, the categories it is for.
  6. Check every Sells at, then click Save (or Create).

Before the choice opens

A POS app that is too old for a basket would charge the basket's dishes wrongly, offline too. So before Each dish its own price (basket) can be chosen, the page asks every outlet's POS terminals which app each runs:

  • While it asks, an amber line says Checking the POS terminals before each dish can have its own price…
  • When one is too old, the choice stays grey and the amber line names it: This POS runs an app too old for a basket: T02 (Windows 0.1.10, needs 0.1.11). It would charge the basket's dishes wrongly, so each dish its own price can be chosen once every POS is updated. Update that POS.
  • When an outlet's terminals could not be read, the line says so: … could not be checked, so each dish its own price cannot be chosen from here. An administrator or manager can check them and choose it.
  • A promotion that already has a basket keeps it, and the line says what is happening now: … Until it is updated, the dishes in this basket are charged wrongly there. Update them, or switch this promotion off.

What if…
