The kitchen has run out of a dish. Mark it sold out and every POS and the QR menu at that outlet stop offering it. "86" is the kitchen's word for it, and the name of the button.

A sold-out mark lasts until the business day ends. At day end the dish comes back by itself, so nobody has to remember to put it back. To take a dish off the menu for good, switch it off (Active) instead.

Before you start

  • You need Mark an item sold out (under Live service) in your back office access group, or Take Orders, Edit (under POS).
  • The mark is for an outlet. With one outlet, 86 marks it there. When you may see more than one outlet, 86 asks which.
  • A raw material is never sold, so it has no 86 button.

Mark a dish sold out from the Items list

86 on the list: the dish's badge says where it is sold out, the button puts it back.
  1. 86: marks the dish sold out for today. Its tooltip: Mark sold out for today: the POS and the QR menu stop offering it until the business day ends.
  2. Sold out: HQ: the red badge beside the name, naming the outlets where the dish is sold out today: Sold out: HQ, Sold out: HQ, BR2, or Sold out: all outlets.
  3. Back on: on a dish sold out at the working outlet. Press it to sell the dish again.

With one outlet

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click Menu, then Items. Search for the dish.
  2. Press 86 at the end of its row.
  3. A message says Roti Canai marked sold out for today. The button now says Back on, and the red badge Sold out: HQ is beside the name.

To sell it again today, press Back on: Roti Canai is back on.

With several outlets

When you may see more than one outlet, 86 asks which.

  1. Press 86 on the dish's row. The window Sold out today: Roti Canai opens.
  2. Tick each outlet where it is sold out, or tick All outlets. Untick an outlet to put the dish back on there.
  3. Press Save. A message says what changed, such as Roti Canai marked sold out for today at HQ, BR2.
86 with several outlets: tick where the dish is sold out.
  1. All outlets: ticks, or unticks, every outlet at once.
  2. The working outlet: listed first, marked (working outlet). When the dish is sold out nowhere yet, the window opens with it ticked.
  3. Another outlet: its code and name. A ticked outlet is where the dish is sold out; the window opens with the outlets where it is sold out now.
  4. Save: sets or clears the mark at each outlet that changed. Grey until something changed.

Here the button always says 86; the badge says where the dish is sold out. Each outlet is changed on its own: if one is refused, the others still change, and the message ends Not done: with the outlet and the reason.

What the POS shows

A sold-out dish stays on the menu, dimmed, with SOLD OUT on its button. A tap does nothing. Each POS of the outlet takes the mark at its next contact with the cloud, and when the dish comes back the mark goes.

On the POS, a sold-out dish is dimmed and cannot be tapped (Windows; Android is the same).
  1. SOLD OUT: the dish's button, dimmed. It cannot be added. The search list shows SOLD OUT beside it too.
  • A sold-out dish scanned or keyed by its code is not added. The POS says Roti Canai is sold out today. Clear it in the back office if it is back.
  • A sold-out dish inside a set meal cannot be chosen: Roti Canai is sold out today.

The cashier can also mark a dish sold out, or put it back, from the POS itself. The POS asks Mark Roti Canai sold out? with It comes off every POS and every QR menu at this outlet, and comes back by itself when the day ends., and Mark it sold out.

On Windows

Right-click the dish's button on the sales screen.

On Android

Hold the dish's button down on the sales screen.

See Mark a dish sold out from the POS.

What the QR menu shows

Each outlet chooses, on Outlets, the outlet, QR ordering, Sold-out dishes on the QR menu:

  • Show them dimmed, marked sold out (the first choice): the dish stays in its place on the guest's menu, dimmed, with Sold out across it, or the outlet's own words (up to 30 characters). It cannot be added.
  • Hide sold out items: the dish is not on the guest's menu at all while it is sold out, and a category left empty is not shown. It comes back by itself.
On the QR menu, by default, a sold-out dish is dimmed and marked.
  1. Sold out: the outlet's words across a sold-out dish. Guests see the change the next time their menu loads.

Either way, a sold-out dish cannot be ordered by QR: an order with it is refused, naming the dish. See Outlets: QR ordering.

When it comes back by itself

The mark lasts until the outlet's business day ends, at its day-end hour. After that the dish is on sale again everywhere, without anyone pressing Back on. A POS that was offline when the day ended still puts it back by itself.
