When a dish is sent from the POS, its ticket goes to a kitchen station: the hot kitchen, the drinks bar, the dessert counter. The Kitchen tab says which ones.

Most dishes need nothing here. With nothing ticked, a dish goes wherever its category sends it. Tick stations only for a dish that goes somewhere else, or to more than one place.

Before you start

  • You need Items, Edit in your back office access group.
  • The kitchen stations must exist: Room, Kitchen Stations. Which printer a station prints on is set on each outlet's POS: Hardware, Printer.

Open the tab

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click Menu, then Items.
  2. Click the item's code.
  3. Click the Kitchen tab.

The tab, part by part

The Kitchen tab: one tick per kitchen station, and what the ticks mean.
  1. Kitchen: the item's fourth tab.
  2. A kitchen station: its code, its name, and what it has: prints on the printer each outlet sets on its POS for a printing station, kitchen screen only, nothing printed for a kitchen display. Tick every station the dish must reach.
  3. An unticked station: the dish does not go there.
  4. What the ticks mean: said as you tick. Nothing ticked: this dish goes wherever its category says, which is what most dishes do., One ticket, at HOT., or, as here, two tickets at the same moment.
  5. The rule: every ticked station gets a ticket of its own, at the same moment.
  6. An amber warning: something that will not work as ticked, such as a station switched off. It does not stop the save.
  7. Rules this screen leaves alone: station rules made for one outlet or one order type only, or switched off. This tab shows them and never changes them. Shown only when the dish has one.
  8. Never print to the kitchen: the dish goes to no station at all, whatever is ticked. For things the kitchen never makes: a can from the fridge, a bottle of water, a service fee.

If no kitchen station exists yet, the tab says No kitchen stations set up yet. Add them on Masters → Kitchen Stations, and they appear here.

Send a dish to one other station

  1. Tick the station, for example BAR.
  2. The line under the list says One ticket, at BAR.
  3. Click Save.

Send a dish to several stations

A grilled fish the cold kitchen plates, a takeaway set the packing bench must see: tick each station.

  1. Tick every station that must get a ticket, for example HOT and COLD.
  2. Read the line under the list: 2 tickets, one at each of HOT, COLD…
  3. Click Save.

Let a dish follow its category again

  1. Untick every station.
  2. The line says Nothing ticked: this dish goes wherever its category says, which is what most dishes do.
  3. Click Save.

The category's station is set on the category: Menu, Categories, Default kitchen station. See Categories.

Keep a dish off the kitchen printers

  1. Tick Never print to the kitchen.
  2. An amber line says "Never print to the kitchen" is on, so this item goes to no station at all, whatever is ticked here.
  3. Click Save.

On the Items list, the dish's Kitchen number is struck through, and its tooltip says Never print to the kitchen is on: nothing prints, whatever is ticked.
