The side menu: TODAY, MASTERS, REPORTS

The back office's menu on the left, part by part. The three headings, the categories that open with ▸, the User and Staff rows, the five report rows, why everything is folded when you sign in, and how to hide the menu.

On this page

Every screen of the back office is opened from the menu on the left. The menu is long, more than sixty screens, so it is folded: you open only the part you need. It is drawn under three small headings, in the order a manager's day goes:

  • TODAY: what is happening now (the Dashboard, the floor, the open bills).
  • MASTERS: everything you set up (the menu, the room, the stock, the customers, Member, the outlets, General Setup).
  • REPORTS: the figures.

The menu, part by part

The menu with General Setup open, its User row open, and Back office users lit.
  1. The screen that is open is lit in blue in the menu. The menu always opens the category that holds it, so you can see where you are.

Each part of the menu, closer:

The menu, row by row: the headings, a category, the rows inside General Setup and REPORTS.
  1. « (Hide the menu): folds the whole menu away to a slim strip, to give the page more room. See Hide the menu.
  2. TODAY: the heading folds and unfolds Today's screens. ▾ means open, ▸ folded.
  3. A screen, such as Dashboard: click it to open it. The one that is open is lit.
  4. MASTERS: a heading only; it does not fold. Under it are the seven categories.
  5. A category, such as Menu ▸: click it to show its screens. Only one category is open at a time: opening another folds this one.
  6. An open category (▾): its screens hang off a thin line. Click it again to fold it.
  7. User ▸: the first row of General Setup. It opens to the four screens of who signs in and what each may do.
  8. Staff ▸: the second row of General Setup. It opens to Staff Master and Staff Categories.
  9. A screen inside a category, such as Taxes & Charges.
  10. REPORTS: the heading folds and unfolds the reports, on its own: an open category stays open.
  11. A report row, such as Sales Report ▸: each opens to its reports.

You see only the screens you may open. A screen your access group does not allow, or a feature that is not in your subscription, is not in your menu at all, and a category with nothing left in it is not shown. See Why a menu item or button is missing.

Open a screen

  1. Click the category, for example Outlet. It opens, and any other open category folds.
  2. If the screen is inside a row (User, Staff, or a report row), click the row too.
  3. Click the screen, for example Outlets. It opens on the right, and gets a tab of its own above the page. See Screens as tabs.

What the menu remembers

  • At every sign-in, everything starts folded, except TODAY, which starts open. This is on purpose: a fresh sign-in is a clean menu.
  • Within a sign-in, what you open stays open, even when you reload the page.
  • Opening a screen another way, from a tab, a link or a reload, opens the category that holds it, and folds the one that was open.
  • A folded category that holds the open screen is drawn a little bolder, so you can still see where you are.

Hide the menu

  1. Click « at the top of the menu, beside FooodPos. The menu folds to a slim strip, and the page takes the whole width.
  2. To bring it back, click » on the strip (Show the menu).

This browser remembers that the menu is hidden, until you show it again. What was open inside the menu stays as it was.
