Price Levels

Make named price lists in the back office, such as Delivery or Member price, then give each dish its price at a level and choose where a level is used: an outlet, a table, an order type, a QR profile or a kiosk.

A price level is a second price list: Delivery prices for a delivery app, Member prices, Staff prices, or the prices of a branch that sells dearer. On this page you only name the levels. Each dish's price at a level is set on the dish, and each place that sells at a level chooses it.

A dish with no price at a level is not free and not refused: it sells at its normal price.

Before you start

  • Anyone whose access group may view price levels sees Price Levels in the menu. Adding, changing or deleting one needs the right to edit them. The owner's Administrator group has it; the Outlet Manager group of a new restaurant may only look.
  • A new restaurant has no price level. Every dish sells at the price on the dish itself, its base price.

Open Price Levels

  1. In the back office's menu, under MASTERS, click Menu, then Price Levels.
Menu, Price Levels: the named price lists.
  1. Price Levels: under MASTERS, in the Menu category.
  2. Search…: finds a level by its code or name.
  3. Show inactive: also lists the levels that are switched off, drawn pale.
  4. Happy hour? Use a promotion →: opens Promotions. A price for certain hours of the day is a promotion, not a price level. See Promotions: Happy hour.
  5. + New: adds a level. See Add a price level.
  6. Default: Default for a level ticked Default level, — for the others.
  7. Status: Active, or Inactive for a level that is switched off.
  8. Edit and Delete: change the level, or delete it.

Add a price level

  1. Click + New. The window New Price Level opens.
  2. Type a Code, such as DELIVERY, and a Name, such as Delivery price. Both are needed.
  3. Click Save.
The window of a price level.
  1. Code: a short code, up to 20 characters, best in capitals. Other systems know the level by it: the Member Portal names a member's price level by its code.
  2. Name: the name every picker shows, up to 100 characters.
  3. Default level: marks the level Default in the list. It does not make any bill sell at this level: what a bill sells at is chosen by the outlet, the table, the order type, the QR profile or the kiosk (below).
  4. Display order: the level's place in the lists, from 0 up.
  5. Active: untick it to switch the level off. It then leaves the pickers.
  6. Save: saves the level.

Give dishes their price at a level

A level has no prices until dishes are given theirs.

  1. Open Menu, Items, and click the dish.
  2. Click the Pricing tab. Under Price levels, each level has a row with a Price box. An empty box shows the dish's base price in grey.
  3. Type the dish's price at the level, such as 15.90 for DELIVERY — Delivery price. Clear empties the box again.
  4. Click Save.

A box left empty means the dish has no price at that level, and sells at its base price there. A price of 0.00 is a real price: the dish is free at that level.

See Items: Pricing tab.

Choose where a level is used

A price level does nothing until something sells at it. Five places can choose one:

WhereThe boxWhat it does
Outlet, Outlets, Edit, MoneyPrice levelEvery bill of this outlet sells at the level. Base price sells at the price on each dish.
Room, Table Plan, a tablePrice levelBills at this table sell at the level, such as a terrace that sells dearer. Outlet default follows the outlet.
General Setup, Order Types, EditPrice level overrideBills of this order type sell at the level, such as Delivery for a delivery app. Blank uses the outlet's.
General Setup, QR Ordering, a profilePrice levelWhat guests ordering by QR are charged. Empty follows the outlet.
Outlets, POS terminals, Edit on a kiosk, Kiosk tabPrice levelWhat the kiosk charges. Normal prices (as a counter bill) charges as the counter does.

Which level a bill sells at

When a bill opens, the POS takes the first level it finds, in this order:

  1. the level the POS itself names for the bill, such as the kiosk's or the QR profile's;
  2. the table's price level, on a bill at a table;
  3. the order type's price level override;
  4. the outlet's price level.

With none of them, the bill sells at base prices.

Then each dish on it sells at:

  1. its price at that level;
  2. else the outlet's own price for the dish, when it has one (the Items list shows it as here beside the price);
  3. else its base price.

Change, switch off or delete a price level

  • Edit: change the code, the name, the order or Active, then Save. A POS takes it at its next contact with the cloud.
  • Delete: the back office asks first: Delete "Delivery price"? If it has already been used it will be deactivated instead, so existing records stay intact. A level no dish price and no past bill uses is deleted. One that is used is switched off instead: Deactivated — still used by item prices, or by past bills.
