When a save is refused
What the back office shows when a save does not go through, and what to do. The red line in the window, the sub-tab marked with the problem, someone else saving first and Reload, the day-end hour while the day is open, and the licence's limits on outlets and POS terminals.
On this page
Every save goes to the FooodPos cloud, which checks it before it keeps it. When something is wrong, the save is refused: nothing is kept, the window stays open with everything you typed, and a line says what is wrong, in the cloud's own words. Correct it and press Save again.
Where the refusal is shown
- In a window, as a red line above Cancel and Save.
- In a window with sub-tabs, such as an outlet's, the red line stands under the sub-tabs, so it is seen whichever one is open. The sub-tab holding the box at fault opens by itself, and every sub-tab with a problem turns red, with a red dot.
- On a page, as a red line under the page's title.
The big line at the top of every bill.
2- The marked sub-tab: red, with a red dot. It holds a box at fault. It is opened for you; check the other red ones too.
- The box at fault: here Name, left empty.
- The red line: each problem, named by its box, joined by •. Here two at once.
- Read the red line. It names the box, such as Name: or Email:.
- Open each red sub-tab and correct the box.
- Click Save again. When it goes through, the big green SAVED says so.
Someone else saved it first
Two people can open the same outlet, user, access group or QR profile at once. When the other one saves first, your save is refused, so their change is not put back by yours:
- The amber line: the record was saved by somebody else after you opened it. Save cannot be pressed until you reload.
- Reload: reads the record as it is now. It reads Reloading… meanwhile. What you typed is kept.
- The blue line: what the reload did. Their changes are in the form; where you both changed the same box, yours is kept and named, so you can decide.
- Click Reload.
- Read the blue line, and check every box it names.
- Click Save again.
A user's window works the same way, with Someone else changed this user. Reload and try again. and its own Reload. On a screen with no Reload, close the window and open it again, then make your change once more.
The day-end hour while the day is open
An outlet's Day-end hour (on its Money sub-tab) cannot change while the outlet is still trading. The save is refused whole, with:
- Close the day at the main POS first, then change the day-end hour.
- What is still open, such as Still open at this outlet: 1 business day, 2 shifts and 5 bills. Nothing was saved, your other changes included.
- When you changed other things as well, a button Save the rest, keep the day end at 04:00 (4 am), which saves them and leaves the hour as it was.
Close the day on the Main POS after service, then change the hour.
The licence's limits
Your subscription allows a number of outlets and of POS terminals. The back office shows how many are used beside the buttons that add them, and dims the button at the limit:
- + Add outlet (on Outlets), or + Terminal (on an outlet's POS terminals tab): drawn dim at the limit. It can still be pressed, and says why it cannot add.
- The count: 2 of 2 used beside + Add outlet; POS terminals: 2 of 2 used under + Terminal.
- The sentence: Your licence does not allow more outlets (2 of 2 used). Contact FooodPos to add more. For POS terminals it adds A kitchen display, customer display or kiosk can still be added.
- POS terminals counted are the switched-on Main, Sub and Waiter POS. Kitchen displays, customer displays and kiosks are not counted.
- A new outlet comes with its own Main POS, so it needs room for one more outlet and one more POS: …, and a new outlet comes with its own POS.
- To raise a limit, contact FooodPos. See Your plan and its limits.
