Kitchen Tickets
See every kitchen ticket of the last 12 hours that did not reach the kitchen, and settle it from the back office with Mark printed, Mark done, Reprint or Cancel. Every column, button and question explained.
On this page
Each time a POS sends dishes to the kitchen, it makes a kitchen ticket for each kitchen station: printed on the station's printer, or shown on its kitchen display. Kitchen Tickets tells you when one did not get there.
Its top list, Needs attention, holds every ticket of the last 12 hours that failed, may have printed, waited in the queue with no POS taking it, or never showed on a screen that stopped answering. Below it you can find any bill and see all its tickets: see Kitchen Tickets: a bill's tickets.
Nothing on this page prints. The POS terminals print. Here a person settles a ticket after looking in the kitchen (Mark printed, Cancel), or puts a copy in the queue for a POS to print (Reprint).
Before you start
- Your access group needs Kitchen Tickets (under Live service in Back office access groups): View to open the page, Edit to mark or cancel a ticket. Reprint a kitchen ticket, in the Actions column, gives the Reprint button.
- To open a ticket's dishes and to see the bills, it also needs Open Bills (View).
- The page shows one outlet: the one you are working in. See All outlets, or the working outlet.
Open Kitchen Tickets
- In the back office's menu, under MASTERS, click Room, then Kitchen Tickets.
- Needs attention is at the top. Bills and Tickets are under it.

Bills
Tickets
- Kitchen Tickets: under MASTERS, in the Room category.
- Outlet: shown when you have more than one outlet. The page shows the tickets and bills of the outlet you are working in. Choosing another here switches it on every page that works on one outlet.
- Refresh: reads the page again now. Needs attention also reads itself again every 15 seconds, so a ticket stuck in the queue shows here within a quarter of a minute.
- Needs attention: every ticket of the last 12 hours that needs a person. The number after the title counts them. When the list is empty it says Nothing needs attention. Every ticket of the last 12 hours printed, is printing, or is on a screen.
- Ticket: the ticket's number, the sending POS's code and a running number (T01-0042). Click it to open the ticket: see A ticket's details. A badge after the number says what kind of ticket it is: ADDITION (more dishes for an order the kitchen already has), DELETE (the slip that tells the kitchen dishes are off), REPRINT (a copy) or MASTER SLIP (a QR round's checklist for the runner). A plain order has no badge.
- Station: the kitchen station the ticket is for. A master slip belongs to no station and shows —.
- Bill: the bill's number, with its table in grey after it.
- Problem: what is wrong. The printer's own error is written under it in grey when the POS sent one, such as Paper out. The problems are explained below.
- POS: the POS that took the ticket to print it, or else the POS that sent it. Queue is a ticket the cloud made (a QR order, a reprint from here) that no POS has taken yet.
- Age: how long ago the ticket was made: just now, 6 min, 1h 5m.
- The buttons: only those that fit the ticket, and only those your access group allows: Mark printed (Mark done for a kitchen display's ticket), Reprint and Cancel. See Settle a ticket.
- Bills and Tickets: any bill of a business day, and all its tickets. See Kitchen Tickets: a bill's tickets.
What each problem means
| Problem | What happened |
|---|---|
| No POS is printing the queue | The ticket has waited more than a minute in the queue and no POS has taken it. The queue holds what one POS prints for others: QR orders, reprints from this page, and the orders of a POS set to print Through the queue. |
| Unconfirmed | A POS took the ticket and never said it printed: after 2 minutes for a ticket from the queue, after 10 minutes for a POS's own ticket (it keeps trying that long). |
| Not printed | The POS tried and the printer failed. |
| May have printed | The POS cannot tell whether the paper came out. |
| Screen offline: not shown | The ticket is for a kitchen display that stopped checking in, and the screen never showed it. |
| No POS is printing the master slip | A QR round's master slip has waited a minute and no POS that prints master slips has taken it. |
A ticket leaves the list when it prints, shows on its screen, is marked or cancelled, or is more than 12 hours old.
Settle a ticket
Always look in the kitchen first, or ask the kitchen. The buttons here change what the cloud knows; they do not print and do not reach the kitchen by themselves (only Reprint sends paper, through a POS).
Mark printed (or Mark done)
Use it when the ticket is in the kitchen after all: on the printer's paper, or on the kitchen display.
- Check that the kitchen has the ticket.
- Press Mark printed on its row. For a kitchen display's ticket the button says Mark done.
- The back office asks: Mark ticket T01-0042 (GRILL) printed? Only when you have seen it in the kitchen. No POS prints it after this. Press OK.
- The ticket leaves the list, and the foot of the page says T01-0042 marked printed. No POS tries to print it again.
Reprint
Use it when the kitchen does not have the ticket and should cook it.
- Press Reprint on the ticket's row.
- The back office asks first. For a ticket that failed: Print a copy of ticket T01-0042 for GRILL? The copy says REPRINT. It prints at a main POS, or at the POS the printer is plugged into. For an Unconfirmed ticket it adds: A POS took this ticket and never said it printed. If it did, the kitchen gets a second copy, marked REPRINT. For May have printed: It may have printed already. If it did, the kitchen gets a second copy, marked REPRINT.
- Press OK. A copy, a new ticket of its own marked REPRINT, waits in the queue for a POS. The page says Copy of T01-0042 is waiting for a POS. If none prints it within a minute, it shows under Needs attention.
- The original is settled at the same time, with the note Reprinted as T01-0042, so its POS does not print a third copy on its next try.
Cancel
Use it only when the food should not be cooked.
- Press Cancel on the ticket's row.
- The back office asks: Cancel ticket T01-0042 (GRILL)? It will not print or show on a kitchen screen. Use this only when the food should not be cooked. Reason (optional): with a box for the reason.
- Type a reason if you like, such as Guest left, and press OK. Pressing Cancel in that box keeps the ticket as it is.
- The page says T01-0042 cancelled. The reason is kept with the ticket and in the activity log.
A DELETE slip turns the buttons round
A DELETE slip is how the kitchen learns that dishes are off. Cancelling it, or marking it printed when it never came out, leaves the kitchen cooking food nobody will pay for. So the questions are different:
- Mark printed asks: Mark the DELETE slip T01-0043 (GRILL) printed? Only when you have seen it in the kitchen, or told the kitchen yourself that these dishes are off. No POS prints it after this.
- Cancel asks twice. First: Cancel the DELETE slip T01-0043 (GRILL)? The kitchen will NOT be told to stop cooking these dishes. To tell the kitchen, close this and press Reprint: it sends the DELETE slip again. Then: Does the kitchen already know these dishes are off? Reason (optional):
- Reprint asks: Send the DELETE slip T01-0043 to GRILL again? It prints as DELETE. It prints at a main POS, or at the POS the printer is plugged into. The copy prints as DELETE, not as an order to cook.
A master slip
A MASTER SLIP is listed only while no POS has taken it. Here it has only Cancel, to let it go. A POS that prints master slips takes it from its own kitchen banner (Print here), and prints it again there if it did not come out (Print again). See Kitchen problems.
A ticket's details
Click a ticket's number, on either list, to open it. The number is a link only when your access group may read bills.
