Dashboard

The back office's first page. How you are selling over the period you choose, compared with the period before, in cards and charts, each figure the same as its report's.

On this page

The Dashboard shows how you are selling. Choose a period, such as Today or This month, and the outlets. The page shows your sales in cards and charts, and compares every figure with the period before.

Every sign-in to the back office opens on the Dashboard. It is the first screen under TODAY in the menu.

The Dashboard adds nothing up by itself. Every figure is the one its report shows for the same days and outlets: the Sales report, Item Sales, Payments, Commission and Stock. Each panel has a link to that report.

For what is happening on the floor right now (tables, open bills, the kitchen, the day end), see Today at a glance.

Before you start

  • You see the parts you have the right to read. The cards need the right to read the Sales report, the items need Item Sales, and so on. See Who sees which part.
  • The stock panel is shown only when your plan has Stock, and the custody panel only when it has Kept items.

Open the Dashboard

  1. Sign in to the back office. The Dashboard opens.
  2. From any other screen, click Dashboard under TODAY in the menu.

The top of the page, part by part

The Dashboard: what it shows, the outlets, the period, then the cards.
  1. Dashboard: the first screen under TODAY in the menu.
  2. What the page shows: the outlets, the days, and what they are compared with, such as All outlets · 22 Oct · vs yesterday. When your outlets are on different business days, a small line under it names each one's day, such as Each outlet on its own business day: HQ 22 Oct · PJ 21 Oct.
  3. Boss app: opens the Boss app, your sales on your phone. Open it on the phone and add it to the home screen. See Install the Boss app.
  4. Install the Android app: downloads the Boss app for an Android phone. It is shown only when one is available.
  5. Outlet: All outlets, or one outlet. Shown only when you have more than one outlet. See All outlets, or the working outlet.
  6. Refresh: reads every figure again. It is dimmed while the page is loading.
  7. The quick dates: Today, Yesterday, This week, Last week, This month and Last month. The one in blue is the period on screen. See Choose the period.
  8. From and to: the first and the last day of the period. Type or pick other dates for a period of your own.
  9. The cards: the period's headline figures. See The cards, one by one.

Choose the period

  1. Click one of the quick dates, for example This week. It turns blue, and the dates show its first and last day.
  2. Or type the dates in From and to. No quick date is blue then: the period is your own.
  3. The figures load again. While they load, the page is drawn paler.

Each period is compared with another one. The words after the dates say which:

PeriodCompared withThe page says
Todayyesterdayvs yesterday
Yesterdaythe day beforevs the day before
This week (Monday to today)the same days of last weekvs last week, same days
Last week (Monday to Sunday)the week beforevs the week before
This month (the 1st to today)the 1st to the same day of last monthvs last month, same days
Last monththe month beforevs the month before

The days are business days. A business day ends at the outlet's day-end hour, as every report counts it. Each outlet is counted on its own business days.

The cards, one by one

The cards: each figure, and how it moved since the period before.
  1. Net sales: what was sold, after discounts and before tax. It is the Sales report's Net sales.
  2. Collected: what the bills came to, with tax and charges. It is the Sales report's Collected.
  3. Gross sales: what was sold before discounts.
  4. Discounts: every discount given. When promotions or vouchers gave some, the line under it splits it: manual, promo and voucher.
  5. Tax: the tax on the bills.
  6. Service charge: the service charge on the bills. When the restaurant has its own second charge (such as a packaging charge), the line under it names it with its amount.
  7. Bills: how many bills were paid.
  8. Average bill: Collected divided by Bills.
  9. Pax: how many guests the bills were for. Shown only when guests were counted, now or in the period before.
  10. Average per pax: Collected divided by Pax. Shown with Pax.
  11. Refunds: the money given back, and how many refunds.

The line under each figure says how it moved since the period before:

  • ▲ 12% or ▼ 4%: up or down, in whole percent. Green is good news and red is not. For Discounts and Refunds, going down is the good news.
  • no change: the same as before.
  • new: there was nothing before, and there is something now.
  • Rest the pointer on the line to see the figure before, such as Before: 2188.21.

The panels below the cards

Under the cards, each panel is one chart or list. Most have a link at the top right to the report it agrees with. The link opens that report on the same outlets and dates.

Two of the panels: the Top 10 items, by amount or by quantity, and the payment methods.
  1. Top 10 items: the ten items that sold most, with how many were sold and each one's share.
  2. Amount: ranks the items by net sales. This is how the panel opens.
  3. Quantity: ranks them by how many were sold.
  4. Item Sales report: opens the Item Sales report on the same outlets and dates.
  5. Payment methods: what each payment method took, with the total taken in the middle of the ring, and each method's share.
  6. Payments report: the link to the report this panel agrees with. On the page it sits at the top right of the panel.

Open sales, Stock balance at cost and Custody balance are about now, not about the period. The dates do not change them.

The Item sales table

The last panel lists every item sold in the period. Its header says how many items, how many were sold and their net sales, such as 42 item(s) · 512 sold · 2,450.80 net.

  1. To find an item, type in Search items. It finds an item by its name, its code or its category.
  2. To sort, click a column's heading: Item, Category, Qty or Net amount. Click it again to turn the order round. ▼ or ▲ shows the column it is sorted by.
  3. Share is the item's part of the period's net sales.

With more than 1,000 items, the table holds the first 1,000 by sales, and says (the first 1,000 by sales).

Who sees which part

Each part is drawn only for someone with the right to read its report. The cloud checks it again. A part you may not see is simply not there.

Outlets in two currencies

When your outlets sell in two currencies, a Currency box appears beside Outlet. The page shows one currency at a time. Money is never added across currencies. Choose the other currency in the box to see its figures.

The guide for a new restaurant

While no POS is paired yet, a card at the top of the Dashboard says How to start your POS: No POS is paired yet. Download the POS app, then pair it with T01: five short steps. Click Show me how to open the guide. The card goes away once a POS is paired. See How to start your POS.
