Reservations: your booking link and QR
The page where your guests book a table themselves. Copy or open its link, save it as a QR code picture, read whether each outlet is ready for guests, and let guests choose their food after booking.
On this page
Your guests can book a table themselves, on a page of your own. Your booking link at the top of Reservations is its address. Copy it to your website, Facebook or WhatsApp, or save it as a QR code to print on your menu or a poster.
A booking a guest makes there arrives in the Reservations list and on the POS, with its source Online. See Book a table for what the guest sees.
Before you start
- Guests are shown times only at an outlet that has a dining shift with Online booking ticked. The box says plainly when that is missing. See Dining Shifts.
- Bookings and queue must be in your plan. Without it, the box is not shown.
- To change Let guests choose their food after booking, you need the right to change reservations.
Find your booking link
- Open Reservations, under TODAY in the menu.
- The box Your booking link is just under the page's top line, above the list.
- With several outlets, choose one in Outlet to get that outlet's own link. With All outlets, it is your restaurant's link, on which the guest picks the outlet.
The box, part by part
Reservations
HQ — Demo Kitchen · 4 booking(s) for the selected day.
- The link: your booking page's address. With one outlet chosen it ends in ?outlet= and the outlet's code, and opens straight on that outlet. Click it to select it all.
- Copy: copies the link. The button says Copied for three seconds. Paste it where your guests will see it.
- Open: opens the booking page in a new tab, as a guest sees it. Use it to check the page.
- QR code: shows the link as a QR code, to save as a picture. See Save the QR code.
- Whether guests can book: Ready for guests. in green, or what is missing in amber. Each tick (✓, or ✗ when missing) is one thing guests need. Masters › Dining shifts opens the dining shifts. See Make an outlet ready for guests.
- Let guests choose their food after booking: when ticked, a guest who has booked can pick dishes from your QR menu. With All outlets, there is one tick per outlet, by its code. See Food chosen after booking.
Make an outlet ready for guests
A guest sees times at an outlet only when both are true:
- The outlet has a dining shift.
- That shift has Online booking ticked. A shift without it is for staff only: you can book it here or on the POS, guests cannot.
The line in the box says which is missing:
| The line says | What to do |
|---|---|
| Ready for guests. | Nothing: guests can book this outlet. |
| This outlet has no dining shift yet, so guests cannot book a table here. | Add a dining shift for the outlet. |
| No dining shift takes online bookings yet, so guests will see no times. | Edit a dining shift and tick Online booking. |
With All outlets, the line names each outlet: The guest picks the outlet on this page. Choose an outlet above for that outlet's own link. Then Ready: HQ. and, for the others, Not ready: PJ (no dining shift), KL ("Online booking" not ticked).
- Click Masters › Dining shifts in the box, or open General Setup, Dining Shifts in the menu.
- Edit the outlet's shift, or add one.
- Tick Online booking (Guests may book this service themselves), and Save.
- Come back to Reservations. The line now says Ready for guests.
Save the QR code
- Click QR code. The window Booking QR code opens (with one outlet chosen: Booking QR code · HQ).
- Click Save as PNG. It says Saving…, then the picture is saved by your browser, named after your restaurant and outlet, such as Booking-QR-DEMO-HQ.png.
- Print it on your menu, a table card or a poster, or post it online.
- Click Close.
- The QR code: your booking link as a code a phone camera reads. The drawing shows a stand-in; the window shows the real code.
- The names: your restaurant's name, and the outlet's when one is chosen. Under it, the link the code opens.
- What it is for: a guest who scans it opens your booking page.
- Save as PNG: saves the code as a large picture, sharp enough for a poster.
Food chosen after booking
When Let guests choose their food after booking is ticked, a guest who has booked can open your QR menu from their booking and pick dishes. They are kept for the table:
- nothing is cooked and nothing is paid until the party is seated;
- when the party is seated, the dishes go on the table's bill and print in the kitchen;
- a cancel or a no-show drops them.
The booking shows the dishes in the Reservations list. See A pre-order on a booking.
- Tick Let guests choose their food after booking (with All outlets, the tick of each outlet you want).
- It is saved at once.
It needs the outlet's QR profile with ordering on. When it is not, the box says, in amber: HQ has no QR profile with ordering on, so guests are not offered it there. Set it in Masters › Outlets. See QR ordering at an outlet.
