Items: Set contents tab (combo / set meals)
Build a set meal on its Set contents tab. The questions the POS asks, how many to choose, the dishes to choose from, upgrades that cost more, defaults, and Fixed or Sum pricing.
On this page
A set meal is an item of type Combo / set. It is made of other dishes, chosen by the guest: Nasi Lemak Set — choose a drink, choose a side. Each question is a group, and each group holds the dishes to choose from.
The Set contents tab is there only for a Combo / set item. The POS asks the groups in order when the set is added, and will not take the set until every group has as many choices as it needs.
Before you start
- You need Items, Edit in your back office access group.
- Make the dishes first: every choice in a set is an ordinary item. A choice can be any Normal or Open price item; not a raw material, not another set, and not the set itself.
- Give the set the type Combo / set on its General tab, and choose its Combo pricing there.
Open the tab
- In the menu, under MASTERS, click Menu, then Items.
- Click the set's code, or make a new item with Type Combo / set.
- Click the Set contents tab.

- Set contents: the tab of a Combo / set item only.
- The pricing line: how the set is priced, from Combo pricing on the General tab. Fixed pricing: the set's own price, plus the differences for upgrades. Sum pricing: the set costs its chosen parts' own prices, each with the difference below added.
- Warnings and problems: amber lines are worth fixing but do not stop the save. Red lines stop the save until they are put right. See What if….
- What the POS asks: the question, such as Choose a drink. Needed: the POS shows it as the heading of the choice.
- Second language: the question in your second language.
- Choose at least: how many the guest must choose. 0 makes the group optional.
- At most: how many the guest may choose, 1 or more.
- ↑ and ↓: ask this group earlier or later. The POS asks the groups from top to bottom.
- What the numbers mean: said in plain words: The POS asks for exactly one, and will not take the order without it., The guest may take one or skip this group., The guest must take at least 1 and may take up to 2.
- Item: the dish to choose, picked from your items with its code and price.
- How many: how many of that dish come with the set, such as 2 pieces of chicken.
- Price difference: what choosing it adds to the set's price. 0.00 is no extra; 0.50 for a bigger drink is an upgrade.
- Default: chosen already when the set is added. The cashier only changes it if the guest wants something else.
- Active: untick a choice to take it out of the set for now, without removing it.
- Remove: takes the choice out of the group.
- + Add a choice: adds an empty row to pick a dish in.
- Remove this group: takes the whole question away.
- + Add a group: adds a new question, starting at Choose at least 1, At most 1.

- Modifiers and Ingredients are grey. They say A set takes the extras of the dishes inside it. Set them on each dish. and A set takes the ingredients of the dishes inside it. Set them on each dish. Put them on each dish chosen in the set.
- Required Staff on a set asks who served once, for the whole set.
