Every bill has a number. The Numbering sub-tab decides when a bill gets its official receipt number:

  • At payment: while a bill is open it carries a pending number (SP-…). It gets its receipt number only when it is paid, from the POS that takes the payment. A bill discarded or voided before payment then leaves no gap in the receipt numbers.
  • At open (the old way): the receipt number is used the moment the bill is opened. A bill voided before payment leaves a gap.

A new outlet numbers at payment from its first day. The look of the numbers themselves (their letters, the year, the running number) is set in POS Terminal Settings. See Number formats.

Before you start

  • You may change the outlet.
  • Choose the business day the change starts, best the first day of a month, so your tax records change on a clean day.

Open it

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click Outlet, then Outlets.
  2. Click Edit on the outlet's row.
  3. Click the Numbering sub-tab.

The sub-tab, part by part

Numbering: how the outlet numbers its bills now, the two choices, and its own button.
  1. How it numbers now: as saved, for example Receipt numbers are given when a bill is paid., Receipt numbers are given when a bill is paid, from business day 2026-11-01., or Bills are numbered when they are opened (the old way).
  2. The explanation: the two ways, and that a bill opened before the day keeps the number it was opened with.
  3. At payment: the receipt number is given when the bill is paid.
  4. At open (the old way): the number is used when the bill is opened.
  5. From business day: the business day At payment starts. Shown only with At payment chosen. Leave it empty to number at payment from the first day.
  6. Save receipt numbering: saves this choice on its own, at once. It is greyed until you change something.
  7. The hint: what an empty day means.

Change when bills are numbered

  1. Choose At payment or At open (the old way).
  2. For At payment, choose the business day it starts in From business day, or leave it empty.
  3. Click Save receipt numbering.
  4. The back office asks first, for example HQ: give a bill its receipt number when it is paid, from business day 2026-11-01? Every POS at this outlet picks it up on its next sync. Going back to the old way asks HQ: go back to numbering a bill when it is opened? A bill voided before it is paid will leave a gap in the receipt numbers again. Click OK.
  5. A blue line says how the outlet numbers now, such as HQ: Receipt numbers are given when a bill is paid, from business day 2026-11-01.
