POS Terminal Settings: Printing tab

The Printing tab of a POS terminal setting. Print receipt (Direct, Preview or No print) when a bill is paid; the print formats of the receipt, the kiosk slip, the bill and the X and Z readings; and the master slip after every Save & Fire. And what the cashier is told when a paper does not print.

The Printing tab of a POS terminal setting decides what the POS that use it print, and how it looks: whether a receipt prints the moment a bill is paid, which print format each paper prints in, and whether a checklist for the runner prints after every Save & Fire.

The print formats themselves are designed in Print Formats. Here you choose which one each paper of this setting uses.

Before you start

  • You are an Administrator or a Manager.
  • To choose a format of your own, make it first: MASTERS, General Setup, Print Formats. See Print Formats: design a receipt.
  • Each POS's own printers (its receipt printer, and the printer of its master slip) are set on the POS: Hardware, Printer.

Open it

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click Outlet, then POS Terminal Settings.
  2. Click Edit on the setting's row, then the Printing tab.

The tab, part by part

Printing: the receipt when a bill is paid, the print formats, and the master slip.
  1. Print receipt: Direct: The receipt prints the moment a bill is paid. Preview: The receipt is shown on the screen first; the cashier prints it from there. No print: No receipt prints when a bill is paid. A new setting starts on No print. The list of settings shows the choice in its Print receipt column.
  2. Receipt format: the format a paid bill's receipt prints in. The first choice is Restaurant default with the default's name, such as Restaurant default (Standard); then every receipt format that is switched on, as name (code), with · default on the restaurant's default. A format switched off since it was chosen stays listed, marked · switched off.
  3. Kiosk slip format: Used only by a kiosk: the slip it prints for an order paid at the counter, and the order number on top of its receipt. Default (the built-in slip), or Default with the default's name, then your kiosk slip formats. See Print Formats: Kiosk slip.
  4. Bill format: the bill printed before payment, with Print bill.
  5. X reading format and Z reading format: the shift's slip and the day's reading.
  6. The lines under the formats: which paper each reading format prints, and that a POS prints by a new format from its next pull, offline too. A kitchen slip's format is chosen on each kitchen station, not here.
  7. Master slip: Print a master slip after every Save & Fire: off until you tick it. One checklist for the runner of the round just fired: every item with its station, the table, the time, the server and the round, and what was deleted. Printed by the POS itself, offline too, once per Save & Fire.
  8. Master slip format: shown with the tick on. Its default, or a master slip format of your own.
  9. The line under it: where it prints: Each POS prints it on its receipt printer, unless another is chosen on that POS (Hardware > Master slip). QR rounds print one too when the QR profile says so.
  10. Save: saves every tab of the setting at once.

What each receipt choice does at the till

ChoiceWhen a bill is paid
DirectThe receipt prints at once on the POS's receipt printer.
PreviewThe receipt shows on the screen. The cashier presses Print receipt to print it, or closes it.
No printNothing prints.

See The receipt after payment.

Give a setting your own receipt

  1. Make the receipt in Print Formats, and save it.
  2. Open the setting with Edit, then Printing.
  3. In Receipt format, choose it.
  4. Click Save. The POS that use the setting print it from their next pull.

To give every setting the same receipt, make it the restaurant's default in Print Formats instead, and leave Receipt format on Restaurant default.

Your kiosks' slip

A kiosk cannot be ticked under Apply to, so a kiosk normally prints by the Default setting. Choose the kiosk slip there, in the Default's Kiosk slip format, or make it the restaurant's default kiosk slip in Print Formats.
