Payment Methods
Every way a guest pays is a payment method. Add one (Code, Name, Integration, Kind, Opens cash drawer, Gives change, Needs a reference, Counts in cash-up, Surcharge %, Colour, Display order), read the list's columns, and switch off or delete one.
On this page
Every way a guest pays is a payment method: Cash, Visa, DuitNow QR, Touch 'n Go eWallet, a voucher, Pay later. The POS shows them as the buttons of its payment screen, and every payment is recorded under one of them, for the receipt, the cash-up and the reports.
A new restaurant starts with five, each wearing its standard logo: CASH (Cash), VISA (Visa), MASTER (Mastercard), DUITNOW (DuitNow QR) and TNG (Touch 'n Go eWallet).
The page has two tabs. This guide is about the first, Payment methods. The second, Payment method groups, decides which buttons each POS shows: see Payment method groups.
Before you start
- You need Payment Methods, View to see the page, and Payment Methods, Edit to add or change a method.
- A card terminal (PBB or Fiuu) or the iPay88 e-wallet is linked with the Integration of a method. See Card terminals and iPay88.
Open Payment Methods
- In the menu, under MASTERS, click General Setup, then Payment Methods.
- The tab 💳 Payment methods is open.
The screen, part by part
Payment Methods
Every way to pay is a method here. One with an integration (a PBB or Fiuu card terminal, or the iPay88 e-wallet) is a Card or E-wallet method, never cash. Cash-like methods open the drawer, accept over-tender and count in the cash-up. A new method joins the default payment method group. Pay later, Deposit and the Member methods are never counted as cash.

- Payment Methods: under MASTERS, in General Setup.
- The line under the title: the page's rules in one breath. A method with an integration is a Card or E-wallet method and never cash; a new method joins the default payment method group; Pay later, Deposit and the Member methods are never counted as cash.
- The tabs: 💳 Payment methods (this guide) and 🗂️ Payment method groups.
- + New: adds a method. Search… finds one by code or name; Show inactive lists the switched-off ones too, drawn paler.
- The picture: the picture the method's POS button wears. See Pictures and standard logos.
- Code: with the method's colour in a small square before it.
- Kind: what sort of payment it is, such as Cash, Card or E-wallet / QR.
- Integration: — for a method keyed in by hand, or what it is linked to, for example PBB card terminal · Any (the terminal asks), iPay88 e-wallet · Merchant Scan or iPay88 e-wallet · User Scan DuitNow QR.
- Drawer, Change: Opens when the method opens the cash drawer, Yes when it gives change, — when not.
- Surcharge: the fee added to a payment by this method, such as 2%, or —. Cash-up: Counted when the method is in the drawer's expected total. A Pay later, Deposit or Member method shows an amber Never cash; point at it to read why.
- Status: Active or Inactive. A Member method is always Inactive here; point at it to read Used by Member at the POS. It is switched on for a POS by the Member connection, never here.
- Edit and Delete.
Add a payment method
- Click + New. The window New Payment Method opens.
- Type a Code, such as GRABPAY, and a Name, such as GrabPay.
- If a card terminal or iPay88 takes this payment, choose it in Integration. Otherwise leave None.
- Choose its Kind. A method with an integration has its kind set for it.
- Tick what applies: Opens cash drawer, Gives change, Needs a reference, Counts in cash-up.
- Type a Surcharge % if this method pays a fee, else leave 0.
- Click Save. The big green SAVED shows.
The new method joins the default payment method group at once, in its next free button, so every POS on the default group offers it from its next sync. To give it a picture, open it again with Edit.
None for a method keyed in by hand. Then, as always, put the method in a payment method group and the group on the POS.
4Card processing fee added to the payment. 0 for none.

- Code: required, and different from every other method's. The payment method group editor shows it on each button.
- Name: required. The POS button shows it, and it prints on the receipt for every payment by this method.
- Second language: the method's name in a second language. The POS button shows it on a line of its own, under the name.
- Integration: None, PBB card terminal, Fiuu card terminal or iPay88 e-wallet. A method with an integration sends the amount to the terminal or to iPay88, and is added to the bill only when it is approved. Choosing one sets the Kind, takes away the three cash ticks, and opens a More with a finer choice. It is not offered for a Pay later, Deposit or Member method. See Card terminals and iPay88.
- Kind: Cash, Card, E-wallet / QR, Voucher, Member wallet, Online / aggregator, Pay later (credit) or Deposit. With an integration chosen it is locked: a card terminal makes it Card, iPay88 makes it E-wallet / QR.
- Opens cash drawer: the drawer opens when a payment is taken by this method.
- Gives change: Accept over-tender and return change. The POS takes more than is due and gives the rest back as change.
- Needs a reference: Approval code or transaction id. The POS will not take the payment until the cashier types its reference. See Reference numbers.
- Counts in cash-up: Included in the expected drawer total. Tick it for cash only, or the cash-up shows a shortage for money that never went into the drawer.
- Surcharge %: from 0 to 100. Card processing fee added to the payment. 0 for none.
- Colour: a colour picker and its #RRGGBB box. It is the small square beside the code, and the strip on the method's button in a payment method group.
- Display order: the order of the list.
- Active: ticked, the method can be used. Unticked, every POS leaves it off its payment screen.
- Picture: a method not saved yet has nowhere to put a picture, so the window says Save the payment method first, then open it again to add its picture.
- Save: saves the method, and puts a new one into the default payment method group.
Pay later, Deposit and Member methods
Some methods pay in a way of their own, and the page treats them differently.
- Pay later (credit) and Deposit are never cash. Their window shows no drawer, change or cash-up tick, but this note: Never counted as cash: it opens no drawer, gives no change and is left out of the cash-up. On the POS it is a key of its own, never a tile on the payment grid. They take no integration.
- Member wallet, Member points and Member voucher are made by the Member connection, one of each, never by hand. Only their name can be changed, because it prints on the receipt. Their kind, ticks, surcharge and Active are locked, with the note Used by Member at the POS. It is switched on for a POS by the Member connection, never here. See The Member connection.
Change, switch off or delete a method
- Edit, change it, Save. Every POS takes the change at its next sync.
- Untick Active to stop it being used. The POS leave it off their payment screen; it keeps its place in each payment method group, so ticking Active again brings it back where it was.
- Delete asks Delete "GrabPay"?, If it has already been used it will be deactivated instead, so existing records stay intact. A method never used is deleted, with its buttons in the payment method groups and its picture. One used before is switched off instead: Deactivated — still used by past payments, or Deactivated — still used by a kiosk's card payments when a kiosk records its card payments under it.
