QR Ordering: New order sound
Choose the sound every POS plays when a QR order comes in, from the POS's own chime and ten others, and how long it rings, from once to 10 seconds. Hear it in the back office, and what each POS decides for itself in Hardware, Sound.
On this page
When a guest sends a QR order, the POS chimes so that somebody goes to accept it. In a QR profile you choose which sound it plays and for how long. Every main and sub POS at the outlets using the profile plays it.
Whether a POS chimes at all, and how loud, stay that POS's own: Settings, Hardware, Sound on the POS.
Before you start
- You need Edit on the QR profile. See QR Ordering: a profile's settings.
- Turn your computer's sound on to hear the choices.
Open New order sound
- In the menu, under MASTERS, click General Setup, then QR Ordering.
- Click Edit on the profile.
- On the QR ordering tab, in the right-hand column, find the box New order sound.
The box, part by part
New order soundWhat a POS at an outlet using this profile plays when a QR order comes in, and for how long. Press ▶ to hear one.
- Standard (The POS's own chime): the chime every POS has always played. It is what a profile plays until another is chosen.
- The sounds: Ding dong, Service bell, Rising chime, Marimba, Double beep, Kitchen buzzer, Phone ring, Doorbell, Triple tap and Alarm. Choose one. The ▶ beside each plays it once, here in the browser, as the POS plays it.
- Ring for: Once, or 3 seconds to 10 seconds. A sound rung for seconds repeats until the time is up.
- ▶ Hear it: plays the chosen sound for the chosen time, as a POS will ring it. While it plays, it says which, such as Rising chime, for 5 seconds.
- Stop: stops what is playing.
- The line under it: the ringing on the POS stops as soon as somebody there opens the QR orders, or accepts or rejects one. A new order while it rings starts it again.
Choose the sound
- Press ▶ beside a few sounds to hear them.
- Choose one.
- Choose Ring for. Once is the gentlest; 5 seconds or more carries across a busy room.
- Press ▶ Hear it to hear it as the POS will.
- Click Save.
Each POS at the profile's outlets takes the choice at its next pull, and plays it from then on. The sound is made by the POS itself and needs no internet.
On the POS: Settings, Hardware, Sound
The profile chooses the sound for every POS. Each POS still decides, on its own, whether it chimes and how loud.
- On the POS, press Settings, then Hardware.
- Press Sound (The chime for a new QR order).
- Chime for a new QR order: On or Off for this POS. Once for each new order, accepted by itself or waiting for somebody, whoever is signed in.
- Volume: how loud this POS plays it, from 0 to 100.
- Remind while an order waits: A soft note at most once a minute while an order has waited a minute or more for somebody to accept it.
- Play test sound: plays the sound the profile chose, once, at this volume.
The chime plays as an alarm, so a tablet on silent still sounds it. If it cannot be heard, check the tablet's own volume.
The sound of a guest's call from a table (call a waiter, the bill) is chosen on the POS itself, in the same panel, under Call from a table.
