Sales is the report an owner reads every morning: what the restaurant sold, day by day. It shows what the bills came to, what was taken off, the tax and service charge, and how many guests came.

What it counts

  • Paid bills only. A bill counts once it is paid. Open bills and held bills are not here yet. Voided bills, and lines voided on a bill, are never counted.
  • Refunds are taken off. A refund is a document of its own, with its money negative. It is counted on the day the refund was made, not on the day of the bill it gives back. A bill sold on Monday and refunded on Tuesday is in Monday's sales and comes off Tuesday's.
  • By business day. A sale made after midnight, before the outlet's day-end hour, belongs to the night before. See Dates, presets and the business day.
  • By the POS the bill was opened on, when you choose one POS. The money may have been taken on another POS: that is the Payments report.

Before you start

  • You need Sales Reports in your back office access group.
  • The link to the promotions report shows only if you also have Promotions & Vouchers.

Open the Sales report

  1. In the menu, under REPORTS, click Sales Report, then Sales.
  2. Choose the outlet, the POS and the days at the top right. It opens on All outlets, All POS and Today. See The controls every report shares.

The report, part by part

The Sales report for one business day across two outlets.
  1. Sales: under REPORTS, in the Sales Report row.
  2. Collected: what the bills came to, with tax, service charge and rounding in. Under it, how many bills. A refund counts as one more document, with its money taken off.
  3. Net sales: the dishes after every discount, and without tax: tax inside the prices is taken out too. This is what the restaurant earned on the food.
  4. Tax + service: the tax and the service charge added together, with each one under it. The tax counts all of it, inside the prices or added on top. When your bills carry a charge of your own, such as a packaging charge, the tile is called Tax, service and its name, and the charge is shown under it too.
  5. Per cover: Collected divided by the guests. — when no guests were entered.
  6. Discounts … where they came from: every discount of the days, split into Manual (typed in by staff at the POS), Promotions and Vouchers. Together they make the total; only a member's voucher from the Member Portal is in the total and in none of the three. Each says its share, such as 40.6% of the discount; — when there was no discount.
  7. Promotions & vouchers report: opens Promotion Sales, which says which promotion or voucher took what.
  8. By order type: the bills of each order type (Dine In, Take Away…), their guests and their total, the biggest first.
  9. By channel: where the bills came from: POS, QR self-order, Waiter app, Kiosk or Online.
  10. Day by day: one row per business day. Across outlets a day is one row, every outlet added together. The columns are below.
  11. Export CSV: saves the day rows as sales.csv.

With All outlets, the By outlet panel sits between the figures and By order type, and By POS under it when more than one POS has sales. Both have the columns Bills, Guests, Discount, Tax, Net sales and Collected. See By outlet and By POS.
