Set up this POS is the screen a device shows the first time FooodPos opens on it, before it is anybody's POS. It asks for one thing: the pairing code made in the back office. With the code, the device becomes that POS of your outlet, with its job, its menu and its printers.

There is nothing else to choose on this screen: no mode, no server address, no list of devices. What the device will be was chosen in the back office before the code was made.

Before you start

  • Make the pairing code in the back office: Outlets, the outlet, POS terminals, then Pair on the POS's row (or + Terminal for a new one). See Pair a POS terminal.
  • The code is made for one platform. A code for Windows pairs only a Windows PC; a code for Android pairs only an Android device.
  • The device is on the internet. Pairing needs it once.

The screen, part by part

On Windows
Set up this POS on Windows.
  1. Pairing code: the code from the back office. The box shows ABC123 in grey until you type. What you type turns into capitals by itself.
  2. The hint: where the code comes from, and that it works once and expires after 24 hours.
  3. Pair this POS: sends the code. It stays grey until at least four characters are typed. Enter in the box does the same. While it works it says Pairing….
On Android
Set up this POS on an Android tablet.
  1. The line under the title: what to do here.
  2. Pairing code: the code, drawn large. Only letters and digits go in, at most eight, and they turn into capitals.
  3. The hint: where the code is made.
  4. Pair this POS: works from four characters. Done on the keyboard does the same. A small circle turns on it while it works.

On a phone, or a tablet held upright, the FooodPos logo is a band across the top, and Pair this POS is the whole width of the card.

Pair the device

  1. Open FooodPos on the device. It opens on Set up this POS.
  2. Tap or click the Pairing code box and type the code exactly as the back office shows it.
  3. Press Pair this POS, or press Enter (Windows) or Done on the keyboard (Android).
  4. Wait a moment. The device asks the cloud, and the cloud answers which POS this is.
  5. The device goes on to its next screen by itself (see below).

What happens after pairing

The cloud says what this device is, and the device takes it. It never asks.

The POS isIt goes on to
A Main terminalSign in.
A Sub terminal or a WaiterConnect to the Main POS, once, if its Main POS's link is on; then Sign in.
A Kitchen displayThe kitchen screen. Nobody signs in on it.
An Order board or a KioskIts own screen. Nobody signs in on it.
A POS paired to replace a broken Main POSThis POS replaces T01. Restore its backup copy?

In the back office, the POS's row now says Online. The code is used up.

When the code is refused

A refused code leaves the screen up, with the code still in the box and the reason over it. Nothing on the device has changed.

A refusal, as Windows shows it: in red, over the box.
  1. The reason: in red, at the top of the card on Windows; on Android, in a red box under the hint. Every message is below.

What if…

Good to know

  • A code works once, for 24 hours. One that is used or out of date cannot be used again.
  • The device takes its job from the back office. To pair it as something else, change Operation mode under Edit in the back office before making the code.
  • There is no Unpair or Pair-again button on the POS. Moving a POS to another device is done in the back office, with Re-pair or a one-time Unpair code. See Unpair a POS with a one-time code.
