The table window
Tap a taken table and a small window shows its bill, or every bill of a split table side by side, with the lines, the summary, Total, Paid and Balance, and five buttons - Continue order, Print bill, Payment, Split and Reprint kitchen. When each is offered, and what it does. On the Windows and the Android POS.
On this page
Tap a table that has guests, and the POS does not jump straight into the order. It opens the table window: a small window over the table screen with the table's bill as it stands, and five buttons for what you came to do. Check the order, print the bill for the guests, take the payment or split the bill, all from the table screen.
A table whose bill was split shows every one of its bills, side by side.
Before you start
- The table's bill must be on this POS, or the POS must be able to bring it in from the cloud. A bill made by a QR order or on another POS is brought in first: Bringing table T5's bill from the cloud…. With no internet, see A taken table while the internet is down.
- On a Waiter POS that works through the Main POS on your own network, the window shows the bills the Main POS holds for the table.
Open the table window
- On the table screen, tap a green (Seated) or amber (Billed) table that has a bill, such as T5.
- The table window opens over the table screen.
- To close it without doing anything, press × at its top right, tap outside it, or press Esc (Windows) or Back (Android).
The window, part by part
- Table T5: the table, with its guests under it: 4 pax.
- ×: closes the window. Nothing is opened, nothing changes.
- The bill's number: SO-0412. A bill with no number yet is Bill 1, Bill 2. A bill remark shows under it.
- A line: the quantity, the dish and its amount, as the sales screen shows them, with its choices (+ Less ice) and its note (· before it) under it. A price changed by hand shows the old price struck through beside the new one; a discount on the line says less 10%; a promotion shows under the line in green with what it took off.
- not sent, in amber: the dish is on the bill but not sent to the kitchen yet (1 not sent when only some are). A dish taken off after it was sent shows struck through in red, DELETE, not fired, until the next Save & Fire tells the kitchen.
- The summary: the rows the sales screen shows at the foot of the bill, in its order and its words: Subtotal, each voucher and spend tier by its name, Discount, the taxes, Service charge and your own charges, Rounding, Price includes tax. A row worked out on this POS that the cloud has not confirmed yet says pending. A bill with nothing but dishes shows its Total alone.
- Total: the bill's total, the sales screen's own figure. When part of the bill is paid, Paid and Balance follow under it.
- Continue order: opens the bill on the sales screen, to add dishes. Always there.
- Print bill: opens the bill and prints it for the guests to check. Greyed out on a bill with nothing on it.
- Payment: opens the bill and its payment window. Greyed out on a bill with nothing on it.
- Split: opens the bill and its split screen. Greyed out unless the bill has two dishes, or two of one.
- Reprint kitchen: opens the bill and prints its kitchen tickets again.
Each button opens the bill exactly as a tap on the table used to, then presses the sales screen's own button for you. So everything the sales screen asks is still asked there: a manager's approval, an open shift, a reason. See Print bill, Take payment and close a bill, Split bill and Reprint ticket.
When each button is offered
| Button | Shown | Greyed out |
|---|---|---|
| Continue order | Always. | Never. |
| Print bill | Unless your System Button profile hides Print bill. | On a bill with nothing on it. |
| Payment | On every POS that takes money. Never on a Waiter POS, which has no payment. | On a bill with nothing on it, and on a POS whose May take payment is off: This POS is not set up to take payment. Pay at another POS. |
| Split | Unless the profile hides Split, for someone with Transfer / merge / split. | Unless the bill has two dishes, or two of one. |
| Reprint kitchen | Unless the profile hides Reprint ticket, for someone with Reprint a kitchen ticket. | Never. |
A table with several bills
A table whose bill was split holds two bills or more. The window shows them side by side, and the buttons act on the chosen one.
- The chosen bill: outlined in blue, its heading blue. The first bill is chosen when the window opens.
- Another bill: tap it to choose it. The buttons then act on it.
- Tap the table. The window shows its bills, oldest first.
- Tap the bill you want. It is outlined.
- Press the button: Payment to pay that bill, Print bill to print it, and so on. The other bills stay on the table.
Two bills fit side by side. A third and a fourth are reached by pulling the row sideways (on Windows, the mouse wheel or a drag does it too). There is no scroll bar: the lines of a long bill scroll inside their own box, and the summary and the Total stay under them.
The window is the same, with these differences:
- The guests are beside the table's name (Table T5 · 4 pax), and × is a close icon.
- On a POS whose payments are off, the reason is written under the buttons: This POS is not set up to take payment. Pay at another POS.
- Print bill is also greyed out on a waiter's bill while some of its dishes are still on their way to the Main POS.
- Split and Reprint kitchen are shown whatever your rights (unless the profile hides them); your right is asked when you press them, on the sales screen.
- On a phone held upright, each bill is a page: swipe sideways between them, with dots under them, and the page on screen is the chosen bill. The five buttons wrap onto two rows.
