A POS with no tables: sales screen only

A Main or Sub POS set to Sales screen only opens on the sales screen with a new bill, and goes back to a fresh bill after each payment. For fast food, a counter does not need a table plan. A POS set to Sales screen only opens straight on the sales screen with a new bill, and after each payment it is ready for the next guest at once. The table screen is still there, as the Bills screen: the bills held on this POS, and every button of the day's work.

Before you start

  • It is set in the back office, per POS: Outlets, the outlet, POS terminals, Edit on the POS, Orders & payments, box Start screen and queue number, Start on: Sales screen only (no tables). Only a Main or a Sub POS can have it; never a Waiter POS. See POS terminals: Orders & payments.
  • The new bill opens on this POS's Default order type, set in the same tab; with none, the first order type that needs no table.
  • The POS takes the change at its next contact with the cloud. Switched off while a new bill is on screen, it goes back to the table plan.

The new bill

After sign-in, the POS opens on the sales screen with nothing on it.

Sales screen only: the new bill (Windows).
  1. ☰ Bills: in the place of ← Tables. It leaves the bill by the usual rule (one with dishes on it is kept, an empty one goes) and opens the Bills screen.
  2. New sale: the title of the new bill. On Android it says Quick sale.
  3. Take Away: the order type the first dish will open the bill on. Tap it once the bill has a dish to change it; before that it says Add an item first.
  4. The first dish opens the bill. Until then nothing exists: nothing is written, sent or numbered, so an empty bill never reaches the cloud.

There is no Move table and no Print QR on this sales screen: there is no table. Everything else is as on any bill. See The sales screen.

Sell, one guest after another

  1. Tap the dishes. The first one opens the bill.
  2. Press Save & Fire if the kitchen should start, then Pay, and take the money.
  3. After the payment, the next new bill is on screen at once. The same after a cancel or a void.

To serve someone else while a bill is not paid, press ☰ Bills: the bill is kept on this POS, and Back to sales gives you a new one.

The Bills screen

The Bills screen is the table screen without its plan. Its top bar, the bar of the day's work and the ⚙ menu are where they always are.

The Bills screen (Windows): the bills held on this POS, and the way back to the sales screen.
  1. Bills, with the line under it: what this screen is.
  2. Back to sales: back to the sales screen, to a new bill.
  3. 2 bills held: how many bills wait on this POS, unpaid.
  4. A held bill: its number, order type, when it was rung, how many items, its bill remark and its total. Tap it to open it on the sales screen, to add to it or to pay.
  5. Another held bill. With none, the screen says No bills are held on this POS.
  6. ⚡ Quick sale: here it also goes back to the sales screen and its new bill.

The top bar still says Tables on Windows. The orders panel with its QR orders is down the right, for someone who may see QR orders. The Queue key is not there: it belongs to a table plan.

On Android

The Bills screen's top bar says Bills. Its middle is the orders panel, the whole width: the QR orders waiting and the bills saved on this POS, under the panel's chips. With none: No saved bills. and Tap Quick sale for a new bill. The sales screen's top-left button says Bills, and the new bill is titled Quick sale.

The Bills screen on Android.
  1. Bills: the screen's name, in the place of Tables.
  2. The chips: as in the orders panel. See The orders panel.
  3. A saved bill: tap it to open it on the sales screen.

The queue number

A POS on Sales screen only can give every bill a running queue number, such as A024, for the counter to call out. Tick Queue number on every bill in the same box in the back office, with its Prefix, Start at, Up to, Digits and Start again.

  • The number is given when the bill is paid: by the payment that covers it, or by closing a bill with nothing to pay. Never before: a bill cancelled before payment uses none.
  • It is taken on this POS, local first, offline too. Each POS counts its own; give each POS its own prefix.
  • It prints big on the receipt and the bill, and on a kitchen slip sent after it was given. It shows on the kitchen display, the expeditor and the order board.
  • On screen: once the bill has it, the sales screen shows it beside the title, QUEUE A024 in amber (Android: Queue A024 under the title). On Windows, a held bill with a number shows it in amber on its card, in the place of ⚡.
The queue number on the receipt.
  1. Queue A024: the queue number, first of the receipt's details, in large letters. Paper always prints in English.

See POS terminals: Orders & payments for the settings.
