What a table's colour says

The colours of the tables on the POS's table screen. Free, Seated, Billed, Reserved and Out of use; the words under a table's code; how long a party has sat and the colour after too long; the member's name; a guest calling; a table in use on another POS; faded tables. On the Windows and the Android POS.

Every table on the table screen tells you its state at a glance, by its colour and by the small words under its code. The colour key under the floor names the colours. This guide says what each one means, what else a table can show, and what a tap on it does.

The colours

The five colours, and the words each table shows under its code.
  1. Free, light grey: nobody is at the table. Under its code, its seats: 4 seats. A tap opens a new bill. A table the back office gave a colour of its own is drawn in that colour while it is free, with dark words.
  2. Seated, green: a party is at the table with a bill open. Under its code, the guests (2 pax) and the bill so far (RM 18.90, shown once there is something on it). A tap opens the table window.
  3. Billed, amber: a party is at the table with no bill open: seated with nothing ordered yet (a booking seated from Bookings, say), or still held after its bills were closed. A tap offers to clear it. See Clear a table.
  4. Reserved, violet: the table is held for a booking. Under its code: Reserved. When the guests arrive, a tap opens their new bill.
  5. Out of use, grey: the table is out of service.
  6. The colour key, under the floor: the five names, in the language on screen.

When a bill is paid, its table turns Free at once on the POS that took the money, before the cloud has heard. A table whose bill is voided, or whose empty bill is left, is free at once too.

How long a party has sat, and the member

Each floor can ask a taken table to show more, in the back office: Table Plan, the floor, Floor settings, On the POS, a taken table shows. See Table Plan: what a taken table shows.

A taken table with the minutes seated and the member; past the floor's minutes it is ringed in the floor's colour.
  1. Minutes seated and the member: after the bill, in bold, how long ago the party sat down: 45 min, and from an hour 1 h 05. It ticks over every minute, offline too. Then, in italics, the name of the member on the table's bill, cut short to fit.
  2. Seated too long: past the floor's minutes the table gets a thick ring in the floor's colour, inside its own shape. Its own colour stays, so it still says Seated or Billed. (The drawing shows it as a red table.)
  3. Over 90 min: added to the colour key while the floor turns tables a colour, with a ring of that colour.

The words follow the POS's language: 45 min and 1 h 05 in English, 45 分钟 and 1小时05分 in 中文, 45 min and 1 j 05 in Bahasa Melayu.

Where the time comes from: the first bill this POS opened at the table, or, for a party another POS or a QR guest seated, the time the cloud gave this POS at its last contact. The member is the one on a bill this POS holds. With a lot to show on a small table, the whole text is made smaller so it stays inside the table.

A tap on a calling table opens it as always. The calls themselves are listed at the top of the orders panel. See Call waiter, Bill please, Help.

On Windows

A table in use on another POS is ringed in red, with In use · W1 in a small red label under its words. In Night mode a free table turns dark with the rest of the screen; the other colours stay as they are.

On Android

A table in use on another POS shows In use · W1 on a dark band along its foot. A taken table's total has no currency: 18.90. On a phone held upright, decorations and tables that cannot be tapped are left out of the run of tables. See Taking orders on a phone or an upright tablet.
