Notices at sign-in
The three notices a POS can show around sign-in. The subscription or free trial is nearly over (on a Main POS, at every sign-in, with OK); the restaurant's sales and stock were cleared by FooodPos (once); and work kept from an earlier pairing, on the table screen until somebody has dealt with it. Every sentence, and what to do.
On this page
Three notices can appear on a POS around the moment somebody signs in. None of them stops the POS working: each is news for whoever is at the counter.
| Notice | Where and when |
|---|---|
| The subscription is nearly over | On a Main POS, over the first screen after every sign-in, from 7 days before the end |
| Sales and stock were cleared by FooodPos | On any POS, once, over whatever screen is up |
| Work kept from an earlier pairing | On the table screen, as a red or amber strip, until somebody taps I have dealt with it |
The subscription is nearly over
On a Main POS, each time somebody signs in, with a PIN or a password, the POS checks how many days the free trial or the subscription has left. From 7 days before the end, and after it, a small window says so over the first screen.
5 days left
- The title: how many days are left, or that it ends today, or has ended.
- The sentence: what ends, and the date.
- OK: closes the notice. It closes on OK only, never on a tap beside it. Nothing behind it is changed by it.
What it says:
| Title | Sentence | When |
|---|---|---|
| 5 days left | Your free trial ends on 17 October 2026. | A free trial with 1 to 7 days left |
| Trial ends today | Your free trial ends today. | The last free day |
| Trial ended | Your free trial ended on 17 October 2026. | The date has passed, but nothing is switched off yet |
| Trial ended | The free trial has ended. You cannot start a new bill, but open bills can still be paid and printed. | The trial has ended and new bills are off |
| 5 days left | Your subscription ends on 17 October 2026. Please renew it to keep using FooodPos. | A paid subscription with 1 to 7 days left |
| Subscription ends today | Your subscription ends today. Please renew it to keep using FooodPos. | The day it is paid until |
| Subscription ended | Your subscription ended on 17 October 2026. Please renew it. | That day has passed |
- The date of a trial is the last free day, the same day the back office names.
- The days are counted on the POS's own clock, from what it last heard from the cloud, so a POS that has been offline for days still counts right.
- A Sub POS, a Waiter POS and every other mode never show it. Neither does a Main POS with more than 7 days left.
- It is only news: what a POS may do after the end is decided elsewhere. See Your plan and its limits.
Sales and stock were cleared by FooodPos
When FooodPos clears a restaurant's sales and stock for you (for example the practice bills of a free trial, before you go live), every POS of the restaurant learns it at its next contact with the cloud. It sets its own old bills aside and starts fresh, then says so, once.
- The sentence: the date is the day this POS learned of it. The window has no title of its own: the sentence is all of it.
- OK: closes it for good. A POS switched off before anybody read it says it at its next start, and never twice.
What it means on this POS:
- The old bills are closed on this POS and are never sent again.
- No shift is open, and every table is free.
- Every setting is kept: the menu, the printers, the staff, the pairing.
There is nothing to do in the back office. Open a shift and carry on.
Work kept from an earlier pairing
A POS that is paired again as another POS, or to another restaurant, keeps what its earlier pairing had not sent, and never sends it to the new one. That is right, and it may also be money that the earlier restaurant took and its cloud never heard of. So the table screen says it, in a strip above the tables, until somebody says they have dealt with it.
- What was kept, and from which pairing: the earlier POS and restaurant, the one it is now, and what is kept: open bills (closed here now), unsent changes, records of what staff did. Red when there is money in it, amber when there is only paperwork.
- The money: payments the earlier restaurant's cloud never had: Record it in … back office. Money whose sending may have arrived after all says instead … may already be in Kopitiam Demo's back office — check there before recording it. Check first, so it is not recorded twice.
- The bills: one line each, after Show bills: the table or Counter bill, the bill number, and what became of it (paid on this POS, was open, closed on this POS, thrown away or voided on this POS, not confirmed, already closed), with any money.
- Show bills / Hide bills: opens or folds the list of bills.
- I have dealt with it: stops the strip. The bills and records stay on this POS whatever you press.
- Read the strip and tap Show bills.
- Sign in to the earlier restaurant's back office (named in the strip) and record the money there, or check it is there already.
- Back on the POS, tap I have dealt with it.
A single bill rung under an earlier pairing can say it alone, such as Bill SO-0412 (5 Sep) was rung under an earlier pairing, so it is finished on this POS and never sent to the cloud it is paired to now., with the money taken on it.
The three notices are the same on Android, in the same words. The subscription notice is an Android window with its title, its sentence and OK, closed only by OK.
