Payment Methods: card terminals and iPay88

Link a payment method to a PBB or Fiuu card terminal or to the iPay88 e-wallet with its Integration, and what is set where — the method in the back office, the terminal's address on the POS itself, iPay88 on the outlet's Money tab.

A payment method can be keyed in by hand, or it can drive a machine: a PBB or Fiuu card terminal at the counter, or the iPay88 e-wallet. A linked method sends the amount to the terminal or to iPay88, and the POS adds the payment to the bill only when it is approved. Nothing is typed twice, and nothing is added that was not paid.

It is one tick on the method, its Integration. Everything else is set where it belongs:

Before you start

  • You need Payment Methods, Edit.
  • For a card terminal: the terminal set up by your bank or provider, on the shop's network or on a cable to the POS.
  • For iPay88: your iPay88 merchant account. Its merchant code and key come from iPay88.
  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click General Setup, then Payment Methods.
  2. Click + New, or Edit on the method, such as VISA.
  3. In Integration, choose PBB card terminal or Fiuu card terminal.
  4. The Kind turns to Card and is locked, the cash ticks go, and an amber note says how the method now works.
  5. To choose what the terminal takes, open More. Most need not: PBB starts at Any (the terminal asks), Fiuu at Card.
  6. Click Save.
A method linked to the PBB card terminal: Card, never cash, and the terminal is set on each POS.
  1. Integration: None, PBB card terminal, Fiuu card terminal or iPay88 e-wallet. Only one per method.
  2. The amber note: for a card terminal, A card terminal method is a Card method: no cash drawer, no change, not in the cash-up. Each POS sends the amount to its own PBB terminal, set on the POS itself (Hardware > Payment terminals), and adds the payment only when the terminal approves it.
  3. More, closed until you open it (open by itself when its choice is not the usual one). Takes, what the terminal is asked for: for PBB Any (the terminal asks), Card, QR (e-wallets) or DuitNow QR; for Fiuu Card, QR (e-wallets) or DuitNow QR (Fiuu has no "any").
  4. Kind: set by the integration and locked: Card for PBB and Fiuu, E-wallet / QR for iPay88. Opens cash drawer, Gives change and Counts in cash-up are gone: a linked method is never cash.

On the list, the method's Integration column then reads PBB card terminal · Any (the terminal asks).

iPay88 is an e-wallet the cloud talks to for the POS. It needs the internet, and the outlet must be set up for it first.

  1. Set up iPay88 on the outlet, as the next part shows.
  2. In Payment Methods, open the method, such as DUITNOW, or make a new one.
  3. In Integration, choose iPay88 e-wallet. The Kind turns to E-wallet / QR.
  4. Open More, and choose How the guest pays.
  5. Click Save.
An iPay88 method: how the guest pays is under More.
  1. The amber note: An iPay88 method is an E-wallet method: no cash drawer, no change, not in the cash-up. The POS asks iPay88 through the cloud (it needs the internet) and adds the payment only when iPay88 approves it. iPay88 itself is set up on the outlet's Money tab.
  2. How the guest pays: Merchant Scan (the cashier scans the guest's code), the usual choice at a till, or User Scan: and a wallet: DuitNow QR, Boost, TnG eWallet, Mcash, UnionPay QR, MAE by Maybank2u, GrabPay, Weixin Pay, ShopeePay, Atome (BNPL) or Alipay+. With User Scan the POS shows a QR that the guest scans with that wallet. A kiosk needs User Scan.

On the list the column reads iPay88 e-wallet · Merchant Scan, or iPay88 e-wallet · User Scan DuitNow QR.

Set up iPay88 on the outlet

iPay88 belongs to the outlet: each outlet has its own iPay88 account, or none.

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click Outlet, then Outlets.
  2. Click Edit beside the outlet, then the Money tab.
  3. Under iPay88 e-wallet, type the Merchant code and the Merchant key that iPay88 gave you.
  4. Tick Merchant Scan, the User Scan wallets you take, or both.
  5. Tick Take iPay88 e-wallet payments at this outlet.
  6. Click Save at the foot of the window.
The outlet's Money tab: its iPay88 e-wallet account. The key is kept and never shown again.
  1. Take iPay88 e-wallet payments at this outlet: switches iPay88 on or off for the outlet. The line under it: the POS asks iPay88 through the cloud, so it needs the internet; refunds are made in iPay88's own merchant report.
  2. Merchant code: from iPay88, letters and digits only.
  3. Merchant key: from iPay88. It is write-only: once saved it is kept sealed on the cloud and never shown again, not even to whoever typed it. The box stays empty; its line says when it was set and by whom. Type a new key to replace it.
  4. Currency: three letters, MYR. iPay88 terminal ID and xfield1 only when iPay88 gave you one.
  5. Take the key off (iPay88 stops at this outlet): shown while a key is kept and nothing is typed in the box.
  6. Merchant Scan: the cashier scans the guest's wallet code; every wallet, through iPay88's Unified Scan.
  7. User Scan wallets: the POS shows a QR that the guest scans with that wallet. Tick each one you take.

See Outlets: Money › iPay88 e-wallet.

Set the card terminal on the POS

A card terminal is the counter's own machine, so it is set on the POS beside it, not in the back office. A method linked to PBB uses this POS's PBB; one linked to Fiuu, its Fiuu.

  1. On the POS, open Settings, then Hardware.
  2. Choose Payment terminals.
  3. Set the PBB or Fiuu terminal: on the Shop's network, with its IP address and Port, or on a Cable (COM port).
  4. Press Check the connection. It opens the line to the terminal and closes it again; it never makes a sale.
On Windows

The Windows POS reaches a terminal on the shop's network or on a cable (COM port and Baud rate).

On Android

The Android POS reaches a card terminal over the shop's network only. A terminal on a cable must be set to the network on its own menu first.

The back office shows what each POS says it has, read only: Outlets, POS terminals, Edit on the POS, Hardware tab. See Card terminals (PBB, Fiuu).

What the cashier sees

  • A linked method sends the amount due to the terminal and shows Waiting for the terminal… with Cancel. Approved, the payment is added with the terminal's proof, and the receipt prints the card lines. Declined, nothing is added.
  • A method whose terminal is not set on this POS is greyed: PBB is not set up on this POS: Hardware → Payment terminals.
  • An iPay88 method at an outlet with no iPay88 is greyed: iPay88 is not set up for this outlet, so this method cannot be used.
  • Without the internet: iPay88 needs the internet, and this POS has none now. Take another payment method. A card terminal on the shop's network still works offline.
  • A refund through iPay88 is made in the iPay88 merchant report, then recorded on the POS.

See Card terminal payments and iPay88 e-wallet payments.

A kiosk

A kiosk takes card and e-wallet payments from the methods of its payment method group: a method with the integration PBB or Fiuu card terminal for Credit card, one with iPay88 e-wallet (User Scan) for E-wallet. Its card terminal is set on the kiosk itself: its staff menu > Settings > Payment terminals. See Kiosk tab.
