Points holds the one rule your whole restaurant's points work by: how much a member spends to earn a point, and how many points pay for 1 of your currency. Under it, you find a member and put their points right by hand.

The rule is kept in the Member Portal. A new Member account has none: until a rule is saved, sales earn no points and nobody can pay with points. Set it first.

Before you start

  • To read the rule, your back office access group needs Member (members, points, wallet, vouchers), View.
  • To change it, the group needs Connect or disconnect Member; points rule, wallet rules, voucher templates, redeem rules, settings. Without it, the boxes are greyed out and the screen says You can read the rule. Changing it needs the Member setup right.
  • To adjust a member's points, the group needs Adjust a member's points.

Open Points

  1. In the back office's menu, under MASTERS, click Member, then Points.
  2. The tab is named Member points.

The points rule, part by part

The points rule: two rates, two multipliers, and the rule said back in words.
  1. Points: under MASTERS, in the Member category.
  2. RM spent to earn 1 point: how much a member spends for each point. 1 means every RM 1 earns a point; 10 means RM 10 earns one. Needed, above 0. The label shows your Member currency, here RM.
  3. Points that pay for RM 1: what points are worth when a member pays with them. 50 means 50 points pay for RM 1, so 1000 points pay for RM 20. Needed, above 0.
  4. Service multiplier: the points on service lines are multiplied by this. 1 means no change, 2 double points. From 0 to 100.
  5. Retail multiplier: the same for retail lines. From 0 to 100.
  6. Birthday bonus points: a whole number, 0 for none. The Member Portal keeps it with the rule, but as it stands it does not add points on a birthday by itself.
  7. Points expire after (months): empty for never, or 0 to 120 months. The portal keeps it with the rule, but as it stands it does not expire points by itself.
  8. What this rule means: the rule said back in words, from what is typed now. It reads What this rule would mean while you have changes not saved, and Type the two rates above to see it in words. while a rate is missing. With a multiplier other than 1, a second line says With the multipliers: RM 100 of service lines earns 200 points, RM 100 of retail lines earns 100.
  9. Undo changes: puts the boxes back as they were saved. Shown only while you have changes.
  10. Save: saves the rule in the Member Portal. With no rule yet, it reads Save the points rule. Once a rule is saved, it is greyed out until something changes.

The rule is one for the whole restaurant, every outlet. A change applies from the next sale: points already earned stay as they are.

Set the points rule for the first time

With no rule yet, the box says Not set in amber, and the screen says There is no points rule yet. Until one is saved, sales earn no points and nobody can pay with points.

  1. In RM spent to earn 1 point, type how much is spent for each point, such as 1.
  2. In Points that pay for RM 1, type how many points pay for RM 1, such as 50.
  3. Leave the two multipliers at 1 unless service or retail lines should earn more or less.
  4. Read What this rule means: RM 100 spent earns 100 points. 1000 points pay for RM 20.
  5. Click Save the points rule. The big green SAVED shows, and the warning goes.

Change the rule

  1. Change the boxes. The line What this rule would mean follows as you type.
  2. Click Save. Or click Undo changes to put them back.

While changes are not saved, moving to another tab of the back office asks Leave without saving? What you changed here is not saved yet.

Find a member, adjust points

Under the rule, you can put one member's points right: a bill where the points were missed, a goodwill gift, a mistake. Every adjustment needs a note saying why, and is kept in the member's ledger.

Find a member, then their Points: the same as on the member's own page.
  1. Find a member: type two letters or more of a name, phone, email or card. Searching… shows, then up to 20 members, each with their phone, card and status. Click one.
  2. The member chosen: their name, status, phone and card.
  3. Change member: empties the search, to choose another.
  4. Points: the member's balance, what it pays for, and their ledger, newest first.
  5. Adjust points: adds points or takes them away. See Members: one member's page.
  1. In Find a member, adjust points, type part of the member's name or phone.
  2. Click the member.
  3. Click Adjust points.
  4. Choose Add points or Take points away, type the Points, and say why in Note: why.
  5. Click Add points (or Take points away). SAVED says Tan Mei Ling now has 1,300 points.

The note ends with your name, such as (by Owner, FooodPos), so the ledger shows who did it.
