Outlets: Money

The Money sub-tab decides what a bill costs at this outlet, and which business day a late sale counts towards. Every POS at the outlet takes a change from its next sync, without anybody signing out.

Change these outside service hours if you can. A bill that is already open may show the old figure on the POS until it next changes.

Before you start

  • You may change the outlet.
  • The taxes themselves (SST and the service charge) are made in General Setup, Taxes & Charges. This sub-tab only chooses which of them this outlet charges. See Taxes & Charges.
  • A price level must exist before an outlet can sell at it. See Price Levels.

Open it

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click Outlet, then Outlets.
  2. Click Edit on the outlet's row.
  3. Click the Money sub-tab.

The sub-tab, part by part

Money: the service charge on top, then the outlet's taxes, price level, cash rounding and day end.
  1. Service charge: what this outlet charges on every bill, shown and not changed here. The rate is set once for the restaurant, on the tax called Service charge in Taxes & Charges (the screen calls it Masters > Taxes). The last line says whether the service charge itself is taxed here. See The service charge.
  2. Tax on this outlet: the taxes charged here on every dish set to Follow Outlet on its Tax & charges tab. One tick per tax made in Taxes & Charges. A tax switched off there shows a grey switched off and charges nothing.
  3. A tax: its code, name and rate. Tick it to charge it here. Nothing ticked is no tax: an answer, not an unfinished box.
  4. Menu prices already include tax: ticked, the customer pays the menu price and the tax is inside it. Unticked, the tax is added on top of the menu price. It can be ticked only when a tax is ticked.
  5. The lines under the ticks: what a dish that follows the outlet is charged here, in words, and how the ticks work. While a tick is changed and not saved, an amber line says, for example, Not saved yet: SST 6% becomes SST 6% · price includes tax. Save asks before it changes what this outlet charges.
  6. Price level: the prices this outlet sells at. Base price is the price on the dish itself. With a level chosen, such as Bangsar, a dish with a Bangsar price sells at it, and a dish with no Bangsar price sells at its base price.
  7. Cash rounding: how a cash bill's total is rounded. Off: bills are charged to the cent, or Nearest MYR 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.50 or 1.00. The difference prints as its own line on the bill.
  8. Day-end hour: the hour the business day ends, from 00:00 (midnight) to 23:00 (11 pm). A sale before that hour counts towards the day before. Under it, the hour in words: At 4 am. A sale before 4 am counts towards the day before.
  9. The amber box: the two things to know before changing these during trading.
  10. Save: saves the Money settings with every other sub-tab. A change of taxes asks first.

Under these, the same sub-tab holds the outlet's iPay88 e-wallet account. See iPay88 e-wallet.

Change the outlet's taxes

  1. Tick the taxes this outlet charges on dishes that follow it. Untick the ones it does not.
  2. Tick Menu prices already include tax if the prices on your menu already have the tax in them.
  3. Click Save. The back office asks first, with a dish of RM 10.00 worked both ways.
  4. Read it, and click OK to go ahead.
The question before a change of taxes: what a dish that follows the outlet comes to, today and after.

The question can add a line when it matters: a ticked tax that is switched off and so not charged, or that the service charge and your own charges stop (or start) being taxed when the outlet goes from some tax to none (or back).

Change the price level, cash rounding or day end

  1. Choose the new Price level, Cash rounding or Day-end hour.
  2. Click Save. The SAVED splash names what changed, for example HQ saved. Every POS at this outlet uses the new cash rounding from its next sync, without signing out.

The Day-end hour can change only while nothing is trading at the outlet. See the first What if below.

The service charge

The rate is the restaurant's, set on the tax called Service charge in Taxes & Charges. Every outlet that follows it charges the same rate and moves with it.

An outlet that had a rate of its own before the service charge moved to Taxes & Charges may still keep it. Its line is amber and says, for example, This outlet charges its own 5% and does NOT follow the restaurant's service charge, so editing the rate in Masters > Taxes, on the tax called Service charge does not change what is charged here. Beside it is a button:

  1. Click Follow the restaurant's service charge.
  2. The back office names both rates, for example HQ charges 5% today. Following the restaurant's service charge changes that to 10% on every bill from the moment it is saved, and it moves with that rate from then on. This cannot be undone here. Click OK.
  3. The outlet is saved at once, by itself: nothing else typed on the window goes with it. A blue line says HQ now charges the restaurant's service charge and moves with it. Every POS at this outlet picks up the new rate on its next sync.
