Apply to terminals
The Apply to list in a POS terminal setting, a System Button profile and a payment method group. The POS of each outlet with a tick, All in this outlet and None, what each POS uses now, a POS that cannot use it and why, the question before a POS is moved off another setting, and what unticking does.
On this page
A POS uses exactly one POS terminal setting, one System Button profile and one payment method group. Apply to is where you say which POS use the one you are editing: tick a POS and it uses this one; untick it and it goes back to the default.
The same list is in three places: on the Apply to tab of a POS terminal setting, in a System Button profile, and in a payment method group. Apply to terminals, on a setting's row in POS Terminal Settings, opens the setting straight on this tab.
Before you start
- To change the ticks, you are an Administrator, or a Manager with the right to edit POS terminals. Anybody else sees the list, not the ticks.
- The list shows the POS of the outlets you work at.
- A POS can also be given its setting, profile and group on its own window: Outlets, the outlet, POS terminals, Edit, Orders & payments. It is the same choice.
Open it
- In the menu, under MASTERS, click Outlet, then POS Terminal Settings.
- Click Apply to terminals on the setting's row. The setting opens on its Apply to tab.
For a System Button profile, click Edit on the profile in System Button: Apply to is under the profile's name.
The list, part by part
Apply toThe POS that behave by this setting.
- Apply to: the last tab of a POS terminal setting. In a System Button profile it is a box under the name.
- The line on top: Tick the POS that use Bar tills. A POS behaves by one setting. In a System Button profile: … A POS uses one System Button profile.
- An outlet: its code and name. Its POS are listed under it. With 8 POS or more, a search box comes first: Search POS… finds a POS by its code, name, outlet, kind or what it uses now.
- All in this outlet and None: tick or untick every POS of that outlet that may be changed.
- A POS: its tick, its code in bold and its name, and a grey label with its kind: Main terminal, Sub terminal, Waiter, Kitchen display, Kiosk or Order board. A POS that is switched off has a switched off label and is greyed.
- uses …, in amber: the POS uses another setting now, and would leave it. You are asked before it does (below).
- The default's name, in small grey: the POS is on the default now.
- A POS that cannot use it: greyed, its tick dimmed, with the reason under it (below).
- The line under the list: what unticking does: A POS uses one terminal setting at a time. Unticking a POS puts it back on the default terminal setting "Default". For a System Button profile, it goes back on the built-in "All buttons".
- When you save: in blue, once you have changed a tick, such as When you save: 2 POS will use it, 1 will go back to Default.
- Save: saves the setting and the ticks together.
Which POS can use what
| What you edit | The POS that can be ticked | The reason a POS shows when it cannot |
|---|---|---|
| POS terminal setting | Main, Sub, Waiter, Kitchen display | A kiosk has no screen that follows a terminal setting. (and the same for an order board) |
| System Button profile | Main, Sub, Waiter | A kitchen display has no table screen or sales screen, so it shows none of these buttons. |
| Payment method group | Main, Sub | A waiter tablet never takes payment, so it shows no payment buttons. |
Apply a setting to POS
- Open the setting on its Apply to tab.
- Tick the POS that should use it. Use All in this outlet for every POS of an outlet.
- Read the blue line: what happens when you save.
- Click Save.
- If a POS ticked uses another setting now, the question Apply "Bar tills"? opens (below). Click Continue.
- A big SAVED says Applied: and the POS, such as Applied: T02 at HQ, T03 at HQ.
Each POS takes its new setting at its next sync.
The question before a POS is moved
- The amber lines: one per POS that leaves another setting (now uses "Kitchen tills" and will change to "Bar tills"), then one per POS that goes back to the default because you unticked it (will go back to the default terminal setting "Default"). A POS is named with its outlet, as T02 at HQ, since every outlet may have a T02.
- The grey line: the POS that were on the default and will move to this one. They are said, but they alone never ask.
- The closing line: Nothing has been saved yet. Continue to save, or Cancel to go back.
- Cancel: goes back to the window as it was. Nothing is saved.
- Continue: saves the setting and the ticks.
Take a POS off a setting
- Open the setting on its Apply to tab.
- Untick the POS.
- Click Save, then Continue. The POS goes back to the default.
On the Default setting itself, the POS on it stay ticked and cannot be unticked: This is the default terminal setting: a POS always uses one, so the POS on it stay ticked. To move a POS off the default, apply another to it.
