QR Ordering
Let guests order from their phone by scanning a code. The QR profiles and how an outlet uses one, where a QR order goes and which dishes it shows, + New profile, Edit, Copy, Disable and Enable, and the Codes to print tab.
On this page
With QR ordering, a guest scans the code on the table, sees the menu on their phone and sends the order themselves. Everything that page does is set in a QR profile: whether ordering is on, who accepts an order, the menu, the prices, the look, the game. A profile is the whole restaurant's: you make it here, then each outlet chooses the one its guests get.
A new restaurant has one profile, named after its first outlet and "QR" (such as Demo Kitchen QR), chosen for that outlet and switched off. Switch it on when you are ready.
Before you start
- You need View on QR Orders and QR Ordering (or on QR Incoming Orders) to see the screen, and Edit to change it. A profile also used at an outlet you do not work at can be looked at, not changed.
- Guests can order only the dishes marked Show on QR menu on the item. See Items: add an item.
- A table code needs tables. See Table Plan.
Open QR Ordering
- In the menu, under MASTERS, click General Setup, then QR Ordering.
- The tab QR profiles is open: every profile of the restaurant.

QR Ordering
Let guests order by scanning a code. Set up a QR profile here, then choose it for an outlet on the Outlets screen.

- QR Ordering: under MASTERS, in General Setup.
- + New profile: makes a profile. See Make a profile.
- QR profiles: this list.
- Codes to print: each outlet's codes, to print and put on the tables and the wall. See QR Ordering: Codes to print.
- Profile: its name. Click it to open the profile, as Edit does.
- Used by: the outlets that chose it, such as HQ — Demo Kitchen, or No outlet yet. A switched-off outlet says (switched off).
- Self-ordering: On, Off (its own switch is off: guests who scan see nothing), or Disabled (no outlet can choose it).
- Table orders: Staff accept each one, or Straight to the kitchen (amber) when the profile accepts table orders by itself.
- Menu: the dishes it shows: No menu — every Show on QR dish, or the menu it chose. A menu switched off since says (switched off), with a line in amber under it.
- Price level: Same as the outlet, or the price level it sells at.
- Game: On, Off, or Not set up.
- Edit (or View, when you may not change it), Copy, and Disable or Enable.
Where a QR order goes
- Each outlet chooses one profile: Outlet, Outlets, Edit beside the outlet, the Outlet tab, QR ordering, then QR profile. None — this outlet takes no QR orders is a choice too. See Outlets: QR ordering.
- A guest scans a code at that outlet: a table's code, or the outlet's Delivery / Pick up code. The page uses the outlet's profile. With none, or with the profile switched off or disabled, the guest is told self-ordering is not available.
- The guest sees the dishes of the profile's Menu. See Which dishes a guest sees.
- The guest sends the order. With Staff accept each one, it waits until somebody accepts it, in a POS's QR orders or in the back office's Today, QR Orders. Nothing reaches the kitchen until then. With Straight to the kitchen, a table's order is accepted by itself. A pick up or delivery order always waits for a cashier.
- Once accepted, a table's order goes on that table's bill, rung as the profile's Order type and at its Price level, and on to the kitchen. A pick up or delivery order is rung as its own order type. See QR Ordering: Pickup and delivery.
When guests may order is the outlet's: its QR ordering hours, on the same QR ordering tab of the outlet. Outside them the page still shows the menu but takes no orders.
Which dishes a guest sees
- With no menu chosen on the profile: every dish marked Show on QR menu, grouped by category.
- With a menu chosen: only the dishes on that menu, as the POS shows it, and of those only the ones also marked Show on QR menu. An order for any other dish is refused, whatever a phone sends.
- In every case, a dish must be switched on, available at the outlet, not a raw material and not open price. A dish sold out today is shown as sold out, or not at all, as the outlet chooses.
Make a profile
- Click + New profile. A box opens above the list, with a name ready, such as New QR profile.
- Type the name in Name of the new profile, such as Food court QR.
- Click Create. The profile's editor opens.
- Set it up, and switch on Self-ordering is on when it is ready. See QR Ordering: a profile's settings.
- Choose it for an outlet on the Outlets screen.
It starts switched off, with no menu and the outlet's own prices. Set it up, switch it on, then choose it for an outlet.
1- Name of the new profile: up to 100 characters, different from every other profile's.
- Create: makes it. The big green SAVED says Food court QR created — switched off until you turn it on, and its editor opens.
Copy a profile
Copy on a row starts a new profile with every setting of that one. The box reads Copy Demo Kitchen QR as, with Copy of Demo Kitchen QR ready: change the name, then press Copy. Every setting is copied. No outlet uses the copy until you choose it on the Outlets screen. Use it to try changes without touching the profile your guests use.
Disable or enable a profile
Disable stops a profile everywhere. It asks first, and names the outlets:
Disable Demo Kitchen QR? HQ — Demo Kitchen will STOP TAKING QR ORDERS — guests who scan are told self-ordering is not available — until it is enabled again or they choose another profile on the Outlets screen.
A disabled profile cannot be chosen for an outlet, and its row says Disabled. Enable brings it back: Demo Kitchen QR enabled — HQ — Demo Kitchen takes QR orders again. If its own Self-ordering is on switch is off, it says the outlets still take no QR orders.
