QR Ordering: Codes to print

The codes a guest scans belong to the outlet, not to a profile: the poster at the door and the codes on the tables. Codes to print, the second tab of QR Ordering, lists them outlet by outlet, and saves them as PDF files ready to print.

Each outlet has one Delivery / Pick up code and one code per table. A table's code is also printed by the POS, on a slip, when a cashier presses Print QR. See Print QR for a table.

Before you start

  • You need View on QR Orders and QR Ordering (or QR Incoming Orders) to see the codes, and Edit to make new ones.
  • Tables come from the outlet's table plan. See Table Plan.

Open Codes to print

  1. In the menu, under MASTERS, click General Setup, then QR Ordering.
  2. Click the tab Codes to print.
  3. Choose the outlet in the box on the right, if you work at more than one.

The tab, part by part

Codes to print: the outlet, its delivery / pick up code, and the codes of its tables.
  1. Which profile the outlet's guests get: Guests at HQ — Demo Kitchen get Demo Kitchen QR. It says so plainly when they cannot order: no profile, or a profile switched off or disabled.
  2. The outlet: the outlet whose codes are shown. It opens on the outlet you are working in.
  3. Delivery / Pick up code: the outlet's one code with no table on it. See QR Ordering: Pickup and delivery.
  4. Download PDF: saves the code as a poster: one A4 page. Grey until the code exists (Create the code first).
  5. Create the code, or Make a new code once there is one: makes the outlet's code. A new one stops the old one working.
  6. The code's address, or No delivery / pick up code yet.
  7. Permanent QR for all tables (PDF): gives every table a permanent code where it needs one and saves them all as stickers. See All tables as stickers.
  8. State: whether the code now on the table still works: Live · one visit, Live · today or Live · until reprinted (green); Used, Expired, Not usable or No code yet (amber).
  9. URL the code should encode: the table's own address. A guest's phone opens it.
  10. PDF: one table's code as a page of its own. Only on a table whose permanent code still works; nothing new is made.

The tables listed are the outlet's tables in service, floor by floor.

The table's state

A table's code is the last one issued for it: by this tab, or by a POS's Print QR.

StateMeans
Live · one visitPrinted One time on a POS: it stops working when the bill is paid.
Live · todayPrinted One day: it stops at the end of the business day.
Live · until reprintedPermanent: for a sticker on the table. It works until a new code is made for that table.
UsedA one-visit code whose bill is paid.
ExpiredA one-day code whose day is over.
No code yetThe table has never had a code. Save the table plan to give it one.

Printing a new code for a table, here or on a POS, stops the one before it working.

The delivery / pick up code

  1. Choose the outlet.
  2. Click Create the code. A message says Delivery / pick up code created, and the address shows.
  3. Click Download PDF. The file QR-HQ-pickup-delivery.pdf is saved: the outlet's name, the code large, a line such as Scan to order for pick up or delivery, and the restaurant's name small at the foot.
  4. Print it, and put it where guests will see it.

Make a new code asks first, naming the outlet: This makes a NEW code for HQ — Demo Kitchen. Any poster or sticker already printed with the old one will stop working. Continue? It is the only way to stop a printed code. Afterwards: New delivery / pick up code made — print your posters again.

The line on the poster says what the profile offers: Scan to order for pick up, Scan to order for delivery, or both.

One table's code

On a table whose state is Live · until reprinted, press PDF. The file, such as QR-HQ-T1.pdf, is one A4 page with the table's code as a card: the outlet's name small, the table's name big, the code, and Scan to order. The code is the one the table already has: a sticker printed before keeps working.

All tables as stickers

  1. Click Permanent QR for all tables (PDF). The window of the same name opens, and says in numbers what it will do.
  2. Choose Codes on each A4 page: 1, 4, 6 or 12.
  3. Choose a Floor, or All floors.
  4. Leave Make a NEW code for every table unticked, unless the old stickers must stop working.
  5. Click Make PDF. It says Making the codes…, then Drawing the PDF…, and saves QR-HQ-tables.pdf.
Permanent QR for all tables (PDF): what will be made and what will be kept, before anything is.
  1. What it will do: how many tables keep their permanent code, and how many get a new one: tables with no code, or with a one-time or one-day code.
  2. Make a NEW code for every table: makes a new code for every table, even those with a good one. Ticked, the window says A new permanent code is made for all 12 tables. Every sheet and sticker printed for them before stops working.
  3. Codes on each A4 page: how many stickers on a page, 6 to begin with. Each card has a dashed line to cut along.
  4. Floor: one floor's tables, or All floors.
  5. Make PDF: makes the codes, then the file. When done: Saved QR-HQ-tables.pdf: 12 tables, 4 with a new code and 8 kept as they were.

The PDF is made in your browser. A name in Chinese or another script prints in your computer's own letters.
