On this page
The PIN pad is the quickest way in: key your PIN and press Sign in. There is no staff code to type. The POS finds who you are by the PIN itself, because every PIN in the restaurant belongs to one person only.
The PIN is checked on the POS, against the list of who may sign in there that the POS keeps. It works with no internet.
Before you start
- You have a PIN: 4 to 30 digits, given in the back office on your POS users window, PINs tab. A person may have up to ten. See POS users: PINs.
- You may sign in at this outlet.
- This POS has been told who may sign in here at least once. A POS just paired learns it from the cloud within a minute or so.
Open the PIN pad
On the sign-in screen, press Use a PIN instead under Sign in.
The screen opens on the PIN pad by itself when the back office sets Sign-in screen opens with to PIN for this POS, and, on Android, on a phone or a tablet held upright. See Sign in.

1- PIN: your PIN, shown as dots, with Key in your PIN. No staff code needed. beside its name. A keyboard types into it too: only digits go in, up to 30.
- The digit keys: 7 8 9 on top, as on the payment window's keypad. Each press adds a digit.
- Clear: empties the box.
- ⌫: takes the last digit off.
- Sign in: signs you in. Grey until the box holds a digit. Enter on a keyboard does the same. A PIN can be any length from 4 to 30, so the POS never signs in by itself at some length: always press Sign in.
- Use a password instead: the staff code and password. See Sign in with a password.
- Sign in with staff code and PIN: shown only while somebody's PIN still needs its staff code. See Staff code and PIN.
The rest of the card is as on every form: the clock, EN and ☀, which POS this is, Clock in / out and Exit POS. See Sign in.

Staff code and PIN
Before every PIN had to be different, two people could have the same PIN. A PIN from then can only be found together with its staff code, until its owner signs in once with both. So, while somebody on this POS's list still has such a PIN, the pad offers Sign in with staff code and PIN.
- Staff code: your POS code. Enter moves to the PIN.
- PIN: your PIN. On Android only digits go in, drawn large in the middle of the box.
- Sign in: or Enter in the PIN box.
- Use a password instead: the staff code and password.
- Use the PIN alone: back to the PIN pad.
- On the PIN pad, press Sign in with staff code and PIN.
- Type your Staff code, then your PIN.
- Press Sign in.
- From the POS's next update of its list, your PIN works on the pad alone. Once nobody needs it, Sign in with staff code and PIN goes from the pad by itself.
If the POS's list cannot find anybody by a PIN alone yet, it goes to this form by itself and says This POS cannot find anybody by their PIN alone yet. Type the staff code with the PIN.
Wrong PINs and the wait
Every wrong PIN on this POS is counted, whoever it was meant for.
- The PIN pad: five wrong PINs within 15 minutes, and every PIN on this POS waits: on the pad, with a staff code, and for a manager's approval. The first wait is 30 seconds; each further wrong PIN doubles it, up to five minutes. A right PIN does not lift it. A staff code and password still sign in while the PINs wait.
- A staff code: with a code typed, five wrong tries for that code make that code wait, in the same way. Its wrong PINs and wrong passwords count together. Another person can still sign in.
The wait counts down on the card, and the message goes when it is over.
