This guide rings one practice bill from start to finish, so you see every screen of a sale once. It uses the sample restaurant: table T01, a Nasi Lemak Ayam and a Teh Tarik, paid in cash.

Each screen has its own guide with every button on it. Here you only need the buttons of one sale.

Before you start

  • The POS is paired and you are signed in. See Sign in on the POS for the first time.
  • Your restaurant started with sample data. Started blank? Add a few dishes on Items first, then follow No tables yet: Quick sale.
  • Printers are not needed for practice. Without them, the POS says where nothing printed, and the bill is still recorded.

1. Open a shift

A new restaurant's POS sells only with a shift open. Right after you sign in, the table plan is dimmed under Open a shift to start selling.

The table plan before a shift is open, and the Open shift window.
  1. Open shift: on the dimmed table plan. Opens the window beside it.
  2. Open shift in the bottom bar: red while no shift is open. It does the same. Once a shift is open it says Shift.
  3. Opening float (RM): the cash in the drawer before you start. Count it and key it in. Everything taken on this POS is measured against it when the shift closes.
  4. Open shift: opens the shift. It works with no internet too.
  1. Press Open shift.
  2. Count the cash in the drawer and key it in Opening float, for example 200.
  3. Press Open shift. The table plan is bright again.

See Open a shift.

2. Open a table

Every free table is grey. Tap T01.

The order screen opens at once, with the bill on the right and the dishes on the left. The table is now taken on this POS.

3. Add the dishes

  1. Tap Nasi Lemak Ayam. A window asks for its Spice Level, with Mild already chosen.
  2. Tap another level if the guest wants one, or keep Mild. Press Add RM 12.90.
  3. Tap Teh Tarik. It asks for Ice, with Normal Ice chosen. Press Add RM 3.50.
A dish with a choice: the window for Spice Level.
  1. Spice Level · choose 1: the group and its rule. This one takes exactly one answer.
  2. Mild: chosen already, because it is the group's default. Tap another to change it.
  3. Add RM 12.90: puts the dish on the bill, with the option you chose. Cancel adds nothing.

4. The bill

The order screen with two dishes not sent yet.
  1. ← Tables: back to the table plan.
  2. Dine In ▾: the order type. A table's bill starts on Dine In. Tap to change it.
  3. The dish tiles: the menu, by category. Tap one to add it. The box above the bill, Item code or barcode, finds a dish by its code or a scanner.
  4. A bill line: the quantity, the dish, its option, its amount. not sent, in amber, means the kitchen has not had it yet.
  5. The totals: Subtotal, then each tax by its name (SVC TAX is the 6% tax on the service charge), Service charge (10% on Dine In) and Rounding to the nearest 5 sen.
  6. Pay RM 18.15: opens the payment window. You can pay now, or later from the table plan.
  7. Save & Fire 2: sends the 2 new lines to the kitchen and the bar. When everything is sent it says Nothing to fire.

Your figures follow your own taxes: a new restaurant charges the service charge and its 6% tax on Dine In, and no SST until you tick it on the outlet.

5. Send it to the kitchen

  1. Press Save & Fire 2.
  2. The POS goes back to the table plan by itself, and says what it printed, for example Printing: KITCHEN, BAR.
  3. T01 is green now, Seated, with 1 pax. Its total shows once the cloud has the bill.

The Nasi Lemak Ayam prints in the kitchen and the Teh Tarik at the bar, each on its own station's printer.

Back on the table plan: T01 is taken.
  1. T01: green is Seated. The tile shows the guests, and the bill's total once the cloud has the bill. Amber is Billed: a party is at the table with no bill open (see What a table's colour says); grey is Free.

6. Take the payment

  1. Tap T01. Its window shows the bill, with Continue order, Print bill, Payment, Split and Reprint kitchen.
  2. Press Payment. The payment window opens with Cash chosen.
  3. The guest hands over RM 20. Key 2, 0 on the keypad. Payment Amt shows 20.00, with CHANGE 1.85.
  4. Press Take RM 20.00. The cash drawer opens, if one is connected.
Cash: the guest hands over RM 20.
  1. Amount due: what is left to pay: the whole bill.
  2. Cash: chosen when the window opens.
  3. Payment Amt: what the guest handed over, and the change. Leave it empty if they pay the exact amount.
  4. Take RM 20.00: takes the cash. Nothing is taken until you press it.

7. The receipt, and the table free again

The window shows Paid in large letters, and Change to give RM 1.85. Give the change and close the drawer.

  1. The receipt prints by itself (a new restaurant prints it Direct). The window says The receipt was printed., and the button says Print a copy.
  2. Press Exit (10), or let it count down: it goes back to the table plan by itself.
  3. T01 is grey again, Free, ready for the next guests.

That is a whole sale: the bill is closed, paid, in the kitchen's tickets, and on its way to the cloud and the back office's reports.

No tables yet: Quick sale

A restaurant that started blank has no tables, and the table plan says No tables on this POS yet with Draw a floor plan in the back office, then pull it down to this terminal. Ring the bill without a table:

  1. Add your dishes on Items in the back office. Then press Refresh (🔄) on the POS's top bar, or wait about a minute.
  2. Press Quick sale, the big button at the right of the bottom bar. The order screen opens, titled Quick sale, on the order type Take Away.
  3. Tap the dishes. Press Save & Fire. On a quick sale the POS stays on the bill, because the guest is standing there.
  4. Press Pay, take the money and press Take, as in step 6.

Take Away pays no service charge, so the bill's total is the dishes alone (and SST, once you tick it).

On Android

The same steps, with a few differences in the words and the layout:

  • The back button on the order screen says Tables, with no arrow. The order type chip has a second line, such as Service charge applies.
  • A taken table's tile shows the total without RM.
  • The payment window says Due now instead of Amount due, and the Paid screen says Total paid RM 18.15 and Change to hand back RM 1.85.
  • Held upright, the table plan is a list of table tiles to scroll, not the drawn plan.
