Boss app: dates, outlets and the menu
The Boss app's two bars. Choose the days with the quick picks or From and To, step back and forward, tick one, several or all outlets, refresh, switch subscription, open the back office and sign out.
On this page
Every tab of the Boss app answers the same question: these days, at these outlets. You choose both in the bar at the top, once, and every tab follows. The bar at the bottom changes the tab.
This guide explains the two bars, the Dates and Outlets sheets, and the menu behind the restaurant's name.
The two bars, part by part
Net sales
After discounts, before tax and service charge
- The restaurant's name: the subscription you are looking at (FooodPos until its name is known). Press it to open the menu.
- Refresh (⟳): reads every figure on screen again now. The app also reads again by itself each time it comes back on screen, and the Today tab every minute while the days include today.
- Outlets: All outlets, one outlet's name, or how many are ticked, such as 2 outlets. Press it to open the Outlets sheet. With only one outlet there is nothing to choose: its name is shown in grey, with no ▾.
- ‹: one step back. The step is the range's own length: a day by a day, 7 days by 7 days.
- The dates: Today, Yesterday, one day such as 8 Oct, or a range such as 1–8 Oct or 28 Sep – 8 Oct. The year is said only when it is not this year, such as 28 Dec 2025 – 3 Jan. Press it to open the Dates sheet.
- ›: one step forward, never past today. It is dimmed while the range ends today.
- The tabs: Today, Hourly, Top, Staff, Payment, Bills and Balances. The lit one is on screen. The first tab is called Summary when the range is anything but today alone.
Each tab has its own address: fooodpos.com/boss for Today, fooodpos.com/boss/hourly for Hourly, and so on. A bookmark, the home-screen icon or a reload opens the same tab. Pressing tabs does not stack up in the phone's history: the phone's Back leaves the app.
Choose the dates
- Dates: the sheet, from the dates in the top bar. Close shuts it with nothing changed.
- The quick picks: Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This month and Last month. The lit one is on screen. Press one and the sheet closes at once.
- From and To: the first and the last day, in the phone's own date boxes. Neither goes past today.
- Apply: shows the days from From to To.
- The line at the foot: both days are counted, and they are business days.
- Press the dates in the top bar.
- Press a quick pick. Or choose From and To, then press Apply.
- Every tab now shows those days. The first tab's name becomes Summary.
How the days are read:
- Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days and Last 30 days follow the day. Leave the app open overnight and Today is the new day. With several outlets, each one counts back from its own business day.
- This month, Last month and dates you choose are the same dates at every outlet.
- From after To is put the right way round. A day after today becomes today.
- The longest range is 366 days.
- The app opens on Today every time. The range is not remembered.
Choose the outlets
- Outlets: the sheet, from the outlets button in the top bar. Close shuts it with nothing changed.
- All outlets: every outlet you may see, with how many there are.
- An outlet: its name and its code. Tick as many as you want.
- Done: shows the outlets ticked. Nothing is read until you press it, so ticking four outlets is one question to FooodPos, not four.
- The line at the foot: every tab adds up the outlets ticked.
- Press the outlets button in the top bar.
- Tick the outlets you want, or All outlets.
- Press Done. The button in the top bar says All outlets, the outlet's name, or 2 outlets.
How the ticks work:
- Ticking All outlets takes the other ticks off.
- Ticking an outlet while All outlets is on leaves that outlet alone ticked.
- Ticking every outlet one by one is the same as All outlets.
- One outlet always stays ticked: the last tick cannot be taken off.
- The list is the outlets your sign-in may see. FooodPos checks every outlet again on every read.
- The choice is remembered on this phone, for this subscription and this sign-in. An outlet you no longer have is dropped, and with none left the app shows All outlets.
The menu
Switch subscription
- Who and where: the restaurant's name, its subscription number, and who is signed in with their role (Administrator, Manager, Cashier or Waiter). Close shuts the menu.
- Switch subscription: shown only when your email signs in to more than one restaurant. Each row is a restaurant: Showing now is the one on screen, Suspended cannot be opened, the others show their subscription number. See Switch subscription.
- Install the Android app: downloads the Android app, with its version and size. Shown only when one is published, and never inside the Android app.
- Open the back office: opens the back office's Dashboard in this window. Not shown inside the Android app.
- Sign out: signs out, forgets everything the app kept on this phone, and shows the sign-in screen.
- The foot: the Boss app only shows figures. It changes nothing anywhere.
Switch subscription
- Press the restaurant's name in the top bar.
- Under Switch subscription, press the restaurant you want.
- The app draws itself again for that restaurant, on the same tab. No password is asked: one password serves every subscription your email signs in to.
With more than six restaurants, the menu shows one row, Switch subscription…, with how many there are. Press it for a list with a search box, Search name, number or code…, and press the one you want. Back returns to the menu.
Switching forgets the figures the app kept for the restaurant you left.
What every tab can say
Each tab shows the same few messages instead of figures, at the top of the tab:
- Grey bars: the figures are on their way, the first time.
- Updated 12:41 · checking for newer…: the figures on screen are the ones this phone had last, and fresh ones are being read. The line goes when they come. If they cannot be had, it stays, saying how old the figures are.
- A sentence with Retry: the read failed. The figures already on screen stay under it. Press Retry to ask again.
