When several POS work through the Main POS on your shop's own network, two people must not change the same table at the same time. So while a table's bill is open on one POS, every other POS shows the table in use, with the code of the POS that has it, and will not open it.

If that POS was put down with the table still open, anyone can release the table with a long press, and carry on.

Before you start

  • It works only when the Main POS works On your own network only. Set on the Main POS in the back office: How sub and waiter POS work with this main. With Through the internet, each POS keeps its own bills and none of this is shown. See POS terminals: General and Operation.
  • Every POS must reach the Main POS. The Main POS holds who has which table.

How a table in use looks

T4 is open on the waiter's POS W1: every other POS shows it in use.
  1. In use · W1: another POS, W1, has this table open on its sales screen or its payment window now. The table keeps its own colour, so it still says Seated or Billed; on Windows it is ringed in red, with In use · W1 in a small red label under its words. (The drawing shows it as a red table.)

The mark comes and goes within a second of the other POS opening or leaving the table. A bill with no table, such as a quick sale, is held the same way while it is on a POS's screen.

Tap a table in use

  1. Tap T4.
  2. It does not open. The POS says who has it, over the tables: T4 is in use on W1 (Ali).
  3. Press OK (Android: ✕), and ask Ali, or wait until W1 leaves the table.

While the other POS is taking the payment, it says T4 is being paid on T01 (Siti).

Release a table

When the table is held by a POS nobody is using (a phone left in a pocket, a tablet put down with the bill still open), release it.

  1. Hold your finger on the table (on Windows, the mouse button too) for a moment.
  2. The POS asks: Release Table T4? It is in use on W1 (Ali).
  3. Press Yes. W1's hold ends at once, and the table is free to open on every POS within a second.
  4. Tap the table to open it. The one who releases a table is not handed it: you open it as any table.
The long press on a table in use.
  1. No: closes the box. The table stays in use.
  2. Yes: ends the other POS's hold now, whoever has it.

Anyone signed in on a POS of the group may release a table: no extra right is asked. A long press on a table that is not in use does nothing.

On the POS that lost the table

The POS whose table was released learns within a second, once:

  • It leaves the bill for the table screen, and says T4 was released by T01 (Siti). Open it again to continue. with OK.
  • If its hold ran out while it was silent and another POS took the table: T4 is now in use on W2 (Mei Ling).
  • On the payment window it is only said: money being taken is never walked away from.

A POS that goes silent (asleep, out of Wi-Fi, switched off) holds its table for 45 seconds at most. After that anyone may open it. If nobody did, the POS gets the table back without a word when it is heard again.

On Windows

The long press also works on a table that no POS has open but another POS's own bill holds, as a Sub POS that keeps its own bills tells the Main POS: Release Table T9? It is open on T02. Yes takes that POS's claim off the table. That POS keeps its bill and carries on selling.

On Android

The table in use shows In use · W1 on a dark band along its foot. The long press is the finger's own: a tap lifted in time is a tap, and a finger that moves scrolls the plan.
