This POS is no longer paired
The screen a POS shows when the cloud stops accepting it. Why it happens (Re-pair, switched off, replaced), the screen part by part with New pairing code and Pair this POS, what is kept on the device until the new code is accepted, and every message.
A POS shows This POS is no longer paired when the cloud stops accepting this device as that POS. It happens because of something done in the back office, never at the counter: there is no Unpair button on the POS.
From that moment every call the POS makes is refused, so the screen is a dead end on purpose: it has no table screen behind it, only a box for a new pairing code. Nothing on the device is cleared until the cloud accepts the new code.
Why it happens
The line under the title says why, in the cloud's own words:
| The POS says | Because |
|---|---|
| This device has been unpaired | The POS was taken off this device in the back office: Re-pair gave it a new pairing code, which signs the old device out at once. |
| This device has been paired again somewhere else | The POS's pairing code was typed on another device, which is now this POS. |
| This terminal has been deactivated | The POS was switched off in the back office (Active unticked). |
| This terminal no longer exists | The POS is no longer in the back office. |
| This device was paired by an older version and must be paired again | The device was paired by a very old version of FooodPos. Pair it again once. |
| A newer T01 was found on this network: this device was replaced, and is no longer paired. Its bills stay on it. | A Main POS was replaced (Replace this Main POS), and the new device was found on your own network. See Replace a broken Main POS. |
| This POS is no longer paired, so it cannot carry work for other POS terminals. | A Main POS that passes other POS's work to the cloud found it was no longer paired. |
In 中文 and Bahasa Melayu, the screen says This POS is no longer paired. in that language instead of the cloud's English sentence.
The screen, part by part
This POS is no longer paired
- The title: This POS is no longer paired.
- Why: what the cloud said when it refused this device (see the table above).
- What to do: get a new pairing code in the back office.
- New pairing code: type the code here. Letters turn into capitals by themselves. Before you type, it shows ABC123 in grey.
- Pair this POS: grey until at least four characters are typed. Pressing Enter in the box does the same. While it works it says Pairing….
- What is kept: everything on this POS stays as it is until the new code is accepted. See What is kept.
Pair the POS again
Get a new code in the back office
- Open Outlets, click Edit on the outlet's row, then the POS terminals tab.
- Click ⋯ on the POS's row, then Re-pair (or Pair, if it says so).
- For Re-pair, the back office asks Issue a new pairing code for T01? This signs the current device out immediately. Click OK.
- The Pairing code window shows the new code.
The device takes its job from the back office at the moment the code is typed. After Re-pair, and before the code is typed, the POS's Platform and Operation mode can be changed under Edit, Operation. A Main POS paired again as a Waiter has no Pay, no Shift and no Day end from its next screen; one paired again as a kitchen display opens on the kitchen screen.
Type it on the POS
- On This POS is no longer paired, tap New pairing code and type the code.
- Tap Pair this POS.
- When the cloud accepts it, the POS goes on as a newly paired POS: Sign in for a Main, Sub or Waiter POS, or its own screen for a kitchen display, an order board or a kiosk. A Sub or Waiter whose Main POS works on your own network first shows Connect to the Main POS.
A wrong code leaves the screen as it was, with the reason in red above the box, and changes nothing on the POS.
What is kept
Nothing is cleared when the screen appears, and nothing when a wrong code is typed. Only when the cloud accepts the new code is the old pairing cleaned up. Then:
- Paired again as the same POS of the same restaurant: everything rung but not yet sent goes to the cloud as soon as it is paired. Nothing is lost.
- Paired as another POS, or to another restaurant: what the old pairing had not sent stays on this device, is listed on the table screen, and is never sent to the new one. See Notices at sign-in.
The Android screen is a white card with the same parts. New pairing code takes letters and digits only, at most eight, in capitals. While it works, a small circle turns on Pair this POS, which says Pairing…. On a phone held upright, the card scrolls so the box and the button can always be reached above the keyboard.
