Clear a table
An amber (Billed) table with nothing open on it holds a party that has no bill. Tap it, and Clear table T3? frees it for the next party, at once and offline too. Who may, what happens after, and every message. On the Windows and the Android POS.
A table turns Free by itself when its last bill is paid or voided. Sometimes a table stays Billed (amber) with no bill open on it: a booking was seated there from Bookings and nobody ordered, or the party was seated and left. Nothing can be opened on such a table, so the POS offers to clear it, and the next party can sit down.
Before you start
- You need the right to change tables: Table Plan (POS) with Edit in your POS access group. A new restaurant's cashier group has it. See POS access groups.
- Nothing may be open at the table. A table with a bill open shows that bill instead. Pay it or void it, and the table frees itself.
Clear the table
- On the table screen, tap the amber table, such as T3.
- The POS asks Clear table T3?
- Press Clear table. The table turns Free at once.
- Or press Cancel to leave it as it is.
- Clear table T3?: the table you tapped.
- The words: nothing is open at the table, so there is no bill to show. They say both reasons it can happen and claim neither.
- Cancel: closes the box. The table stays amber.
- Clear table: frees the table. On Windows, a refusal is said inside the box, in red, and the box stays (see What if…).
What happens after
- The table is free on this POS at once, before the cloud has heard. The clear is saved on this POS and sent to the cloud behind your back, so it works with the internet down too.
- A new bill can be opened there straight away. It is sent after the clear, in that order.
- Other POS see the table free at their next contact with the cloud.
- If the cloud will not clear it (a bill was opened there on another POS meanwhile), the clear is listed with the refused work as A table could not be cleared, and the table shows as the cloud has it again. See Unsynced and refused work.
The question, its words and its two buttons are the same. A refusal closes the box and is said at the top of the table screen instead. On a Waiter POS that works through the Main POS on your own network, the Main POS clears the table.
