Move table

Move a party to another table from the sales screen. Pick where they are sitting now, move the whole party or only this bill, what the tables in the list say, what is said after the move, and every message. On the Windows and the Android POS.

A party of two becomes six, or the table by the door is too cold. When the guests change tables, move their bill with them. The bill, its dishes and its payments go to the new table, and the floor plan shows them where they really sit.

The move is made on this POS first. It works with the internet down, and the cloud is told when it can be.

Before you start

  • The bill must be at a table. A quick sale, or a bill on a POS with no table plan, is at no table and cannot be moved to one.
  • You need the right to move bills (pos.order.transfer in your access group). Without it the POS says Missing permission: pos.order.transfer.
  • A free table. Only tables nobody is sitting at are offered.

Open Move table

  1. Open the bill: tap its table on the table screen, then Continue order, or go on with the bill you are ringing.
  2. On the sales screen, press Move table in the row of buttons under the menu.
  3. The Move Table T6 window opens over the bill.

  1. Table T6: the table the bill is at now. After the move it says the new table.
  2. Move table: opens the window below. It is greyed only while the POS is busy with something else.

The window, part by part

Move Table T6 (Windows): tick or untick the whole party, then tap the table they sit at now.
  1. Move Table T6: the bill being moved, named as the sales screen names it. Under it: Pick where they are sitting now.
  2. Move the whole party: ticked when the window opens. Every open bill of the party at this table moves together, as "we moved table" nearly always means. Untick it to move only this bill and leave the party's other bills where they are, for example one bill of a split party that goes to its own table.
  3. A free table: its code, and under it its seats (4 seats), or free when it has no seat count. Tap it to move the bill there at once. The list has every table of your floor plan that is in service, not out of use, not the one the bill is at, and that nobody is sitting at, floor by floor, then by code (T2 before T10).
  4. reserved: a table with a booking is offered too. You are the one who knows whether the booking has arrived.
  5. Cancel: closes the window. Nothing moves.

While the move is being made, the window says Moving… and the tables cannot be tapped.

Move the party

  1. Press Move table.
  2. Leave Move the whole party ticked, or untick it to move only this bill.
  3. Tap the table they are sitting at now, for example T8.
  4. The window closes. The sales screen now says Table T8, and the line above the bill says Moved to table T8.

The floor plan follows at once: T6 is free again and T8 is taken. The next tap on T8 finds the bill.

What the POS says after a move

The bill is at the new table on this POS in every case. The line above the bill says what the cloud knows of it:

On Android

The window is a sheet that slides up from the bottom of the screen, with the same parts: the title, Pick where they are sitting now., the Move the whole party tick, the free tables and Cancel. Under each table it says its seats or free; a reserved table is offered too, but not marked reserved. On a phone, or a tablet held upright, the sheet opens at its full height.

After the move the line above the bill says Moved to table T8., and, while the cloud has not heard yet, The cloud hears of it with this bill's other changes.

A POS with no table plan (Sales screen only) has no Move table button.

  1. Move the whole party: as on Windows.
