Print QR for a table
Print the QR code slip of the table a bill is at, for the guests to order from their phones. One visit, Today or Until reprinted, what the Now line says, why printing replaces the table's old code, which printer it comes out of, and every message. On the Windows and the Android POS.
On this page
With QR ordering, guests scan a code at their table and order from their own phones. Print QR prints that code on a slip, for the table the bill on screen is at, and only that table. Put the slip on the table, and the guests' orders come to the POS.
Printing is issuing. Each print makes a new code for the table, and the table's old code stops working at that moment. A table that never had a code gets its first.
Before you start
- The internet. The code is kept on the cloud, so a code cannot be made on this POS alone. With the internet down, nothing is printed.
- The right to print QR codes (pos.qr.edit in your access group). Without it, the Print QR button is not on the sales screen.
- A bill at a table. A quick sale is at no table, so it has no Print QR button.
- QR ordering set up for the outlet: a QR profile in the back office, General Setup, QR Ordering. Its QR sheets a POS may print ticks decide which of the three kinds the POS offers. See QR Ordering: a profile's settings.
Print a table's code
- Open the table's bill, or open the table (see Open a table).
- On the sales screen, press Print QR in the row under the menu.
- If the outlet ticks one kind of sheet, it prints at once, with no question. The line above the bill says Printed a one visit code for table T6. You are done.
- If it ticks two or three, the QR code for table T6 window opens. Tap the kind you want.
- The slip prints. The window says Printed a today code for table T6., and its Now: line says what the code is good for.
- Press Close.
- Print QR: the code of this table. It works on a bill with no dishes yet, so you can print it as soon as the guests sit down.
The window, part by part
One visitStops working when the bill is paid
3TodayStops working at the end of the business day
4Until reprintedFor a code stuck to the table
5- QR code for table T6: the table the bill is at. Under it: Printing a code replaces the one this table had.
- Now: what the table's present code is good for (the list is below). While it is being read it says Reading this table's code…. If your access group may print codes but not look at them, this line is not shown; nothing is wrong.
- One visit: Stops working when the bill is paid. For a slip handed to one party.
- Today: Stops working at the end of the business day, at the day-end hour, not at midnight.
- Until reprinted: For a code stuck to the table. It works until somebody prints a new one for this table.
- Close: closes the window. It waits while a slip is printing, and while a question about the printer is waiting for its answer.
Only the kinds your outlet ticks are shown: two of them, or all three. While a slip prints, the buttons say Printing….
What the Now line says
| Now: | What it means |
|---|---|
| No code yet | This table has never had a code. The first print gives it one. |
| Live · one visit | A one-visit code is working, for the bill at the table now. |
| Used — that bill has been paid | The one-visit code's bill is paid. The code no longer works: print a new one for the next party. |
| Live until 23:00 | A code for today, working until the time shown (on Android: Live today). |
| Live today | A code for today, working until the end of the business day. |
| Expired | The day of a Today code is over. |
| Live · until reprinted | The table's lasting code is working. |
| Not usable | The code does not work any more. Print a new one. |
The slip
The slip is printed in English, whatever language the POS is in. With no slip design chosen, it is the POS's own:
- Table T6: the table, in large letters, and Scan to order under it.
- The QR code: the guest scans it with the phone's camera. (Drawn here as a box; the printer prints the real code.)
- What the slip is good for: the kind, One visit, Today or Until reprinted, and for the first two a line under it: Valid for this visit only, or Valid until 23:00.
The owner can design the slip instead, with free text and the code's size: a QR ordering print format, chosen on the QR profile (Print format for the QR slip). Then every POS prints that design.
Which printer it comes out of
The slip comes out of the printer this POS's QR printer names: Settings, Hardware, Printer, the QR printer card. It Follows the receipt printer until you choose another of this POS's roll printers there. A label printer cannot print it. See The QR printer and the master slip printer.
When the QR printer is a printer of its own, the POS may ask one of two questions, each with Yes and No:
- Kitchen 2 is not set up on this POS any more. Print on the receipt printer? Asked before a code is made. Yes prints this one slip on the receipt printer; the setting stays as it is. No makes no code and prints nothing.
- Kitchen 2 did not print: the printer did not answer. The code for table T6 is live. Print it on the receipt printer? Asked after the code is made: it already works. Yes prints the same code on the receipt printer, without making another. No leaves the code live and unprinted (see What if…).
The window is a sheet from the bottom of the screen, with the same title, Now: line, kinds of sheet and Close. On a phone held upright, the kinds are one under the other. A Now: line with a working code is green.
When only one kind is ticked, no sheet opens: the line above the bill says Printing…, then Printed for T6. A printed slip in the sheet says Printed for T6. too.
The questions about the printer are Android's own small windows, with No and Yes.
The built-in slip has one line under the code, what it is good for: Valid for this visit only, Valid until 23:00 (or Valid today), or Valid until reprinted.
