A voucher on the bill

Put a voucher code on the bill, on the Windows and the Android POS. The Voucher window part by part, Check and Apply, scanning a printed voucher, a voucher for chosen items that comes off their lines before tax and one for the whole bill, Remove and Take this voucher off, why a code is refused, and why the Voucher button is off.

A voucher is a code that takes money off: printed on a card, given at the POS, or won in the QR game. You type or scan the code on the bill, the POS checks it with the cloud, and Apply holds it on the bill. It is used up when the bill is paid.

Before you start

  • The POS needs the internet. Only the cloud can say a code is still unspent, so a voucher cannot be checked or held offline. The bill can still be paid without it.
  • The bill has reached the cloud, and has something on it.
  • Vouchers are made in the back office: Vouchers. See Vouchers.
  • A bill holds one voucher, besides any number of QR game prizes.

Put a voucher on the bill

  1. On the sales screen, press Voucher on the bar under the menu.
  2. Type the code in Code, or scan it. Capitals or small letters alike.
  3. Press Check (or Enter). The window shows the voucher and what it takes off this bill.
  4. If it says what it Takes off, press Apply (or Enter again).
  5. The window says RM 10 OFF is on the bill. Press Close.

A printed voucher scanned on the bill, when no dish has that code, opens this window with the code in it, already checked: press Apply.

The Voucher window, part by part

  1. Voucher: the window's name.
  2. Type or scan the code, check it, then apply it.
  3. Code: the voucher's code. Changing it clears the last answer.
  4. The answer: the voucher's name and code. When it can be used on this bill: Takes off and Bill comes to. When it cannot, why, on amber. See What if….
  5. Bill comes to: the bill's total with the voucher.
  6. Close: closes the window. A voucher checked but not applied is not held.
  7. Check, then Apply: the blue Check asks the cloud about the code. Once the code can be used, the button turns green and says Apply: it holds the voucher on the bill. Checking… and Applying… while they work.

When the bill already holds a voucher, it is listed at the top of the window with what it takes off and Remove. One that takes nothing now is amber: Takes nothing now: and why. · pending beside it until the cloud confirms its figure.

Where the voucher comes off

What a voucher takes off depends on what it is for, as set on the voucher in the back office:

Left: a voucher for chosen items comes off their lines. Right: a voucher for the whole bill comes off the bill.
  1. A voucher for chosen items (an item voucher): it comes off the lines of those items, before tax, as an item discount does, and shows under each line it takes off, in green. The tax is worked on what is left of the line. A member's voucher for chosen items comes off the same way.
  2. A voucher for the whole bill: it comes off the bill as it always has, in the totals by its name, with ✕ beside it to take it off.

Whether a voucher comes off before or after the service charge and the tax is the voucher's Taken off, in the back office. See Vouchers: what it gives.

Take a voucher off

The guest changes their mind, or wants to keep the voucher for another day:

  • In the Voucher window, press Remove beside the voucher. The window says The voucher is off the bill, and the code is free to use again.
  • Or, for a voucher on the whole bill, press ✕ beside it in the totals (Take this voucher off).

Taking a voucher off needs the internet, as putting one on does.

The Voucher button

When a voucher cannot be put on the bill now, the button is off, and a small line under the word says why:

Vouchers, promotions and discounts

  • A voucher that cannot be used with a promotion already applying on the bill is refused. A promotion that starts to apply later takes such a voucher off by itself, and the guest keeps it. See Promotions on the bill.
  • A voucher that cannot be used with a discount keyed by staff is refused on a bill that has one. A discount keyed on a bill that already holds such a voucher asks Use which? first. See Discount the bill or a dish.

On Android

  1. One voucher per bill, besides QR game prizes. Checked with the cloud.: the line under the name.
  2. The answer: the code, the voucher's name, its terms (RM 10.00 off, (up to RM 20.00), · minimum spend RM 30.00, · not combined with other promotions), and what it does on this bill: Takes RM 10.00 off. New total RM 35.00., Already on this bill., or why not.
  • Check and Apply are two buttons side by side. The green Apply can be pressed once the code can be used.
  • The button on the bar is on whenever the bill has something on it. When a voucher cannot be put on now, the window says why at its top, and the code box is off.
  • A voucher on the bill is listed with its code, its name, what it takes off and Take off.
  • The bar's button says Voucher on bill while the bill holds one.
