Change the quantity

Change how many of a dish are on the bill, with − and + in the line's window or by typing the number on the quantity pad, on the Windows and the Android POS. The pad part by part, 0 voids the line, less of a dish the kitchen has, more of a dish, and every message.

Two ways change how many of a dish are on the bill:

  • − and +, in the line's window: one at a time. Good for 2 to 3.
  • The quantity pad: tap the quantity square at the left of the line, and type the number. Good for 12 plates of satay: one tap, two keys and OK.

Both change the bill the same way. Less of a dish the kitchen already has is a void of that part: see Less of a dish the kitchen has.

With − and +

  1. Tap the line on the bill. Its window opens beside it. See A bill line's window.
  2. Press + for one more, − for one less. The number between them, and the line on the bill, change at once.
  3. Close the window (✕, or tap on the menu side) when you are done.

With the quantity pad

  1. Tap the quantity square at the left of the line (the big number). The quantity pad opens.
  2. Type the new quantity, for example 12.
  3. Press OK. The line has 12, and the pad closes.
The quantity pad (Windows), opened by tapping the quantity on the line.
  1. The dish's name: the line the pad is for.
  2. Now 2. Type how many. Nought voids it.: the quantity the line has now. For a dish sold by weight: Now 0.45. Type the weight. Nought voids it.
  3. The entry: what you type, in large figures. Before you type, it shows the present quantity in grey.
  4. ±: makes the number below 0, for a return (a dish given back). See Return dishes. For a dish sold by weight, the keys have a decimal point in this place, and ± has a row of its own under them.
  5. ⌫: rubs out the last digit.
  6. Cancel: closes the pad. Nothing changes.
  7. OK: sets the line to what you typed. Grey until you type something.
On Windows

The PC's keyboard types on the pad while it is open: the digits, . for a dish sold by weight, - for ±, Backspace (rub out), Delete (empty the entry), Enter (OK) and Esc (empty the entry, then close the pad).

A dish not sold by weight takes whole numbers only. A dish sold by weight takes a weight to three decimal places, such as 0.455. See Dishes sold by weight.

What each number does

You typeWhat happens
A bigger numberThe line goes up. What is added is not sent until the next Save & Fire.
A smaller number, of a dish not sent yetThe line goes down. Nothing is asked.
A smaller number, of a dish the kitchen hasA void of what comes off. With −, it asks for a reason. See Less of a dish the kitchen has.
0The line is voided, as the Void button does: see Void a dish.
Below 0, with ±The line becomes a return.
The same numberNothing changes.

When the bill shows several lines of a dish as one row (Always merge), the new quantity is for the whole row.

Less of a dish the kitchen has

The kitchen already cooks what was sent, so taking some off is a void of that part. The kitchen is told at the next Save & Fire: until then the line shows −10 to delete in red.

With −, in the line's window:

  1. Press − as many times as needed. The line shows the new number at once.
  2. Close the line's window (✕, or tap on the menu side).
  3. The Void this item window opens once, for all the taps, with how many come off (10 x Satay Ayam) and their value. Choose a Reason, and add a note under What happened? if you like.
  4. If you may not void a dish yourself, a manager types their PIN in the window (and, if they like, their staff code).
  5. Press Void this item.

Press Keep it instead to change nothing: the line goes back to what it was. See Void a dish.

On the quantity pad, a smaller number of a dish the kitchen has is taken at once, with no reason asked. Only somebody who may void a dish can do this: anybody else is told This item has gone to the kitchen, and taking it off needs pos.order.void. Ask a manager. Use − instead, where a manager can approve it.

On Android

The quantity pad on Android.
  1. Type how many. ± makes it a return.: the line under the name. For a dish sold by weight: Weighed: type the weight, up to three decimal places.
  2. ±: a row of its own under the keys, beside Clear.
  3. Clear: empties the entry.
  • The decimal point is on every pad, greyed for a dish not sold by weight.
  • Tap the number between − and + in the line's window to open the pad, as well as the square on the line.
  • A tap outside the pad closes it, changing nothing.
  • A keyboard plugged into the tablet types on the pad as on Windows.
