Call the order number to the order board

Call a bill's order to the outlet's order boards from the POS, with Call A023 on the sales screen and on the Paid screen. When the button shows, what its number is, what the board does, what the POS says, Call again and Collected, and every message. On the Windows and the Android POS.

An order board is a screen the guests watch, with the orders Preparing and Ready. When an order is ready, call it: the board puts it under Ready at once, with its chime, and Now calling A023 across the board for a moment. The guest comes to collect it.

You can call the bill you have open, with Call A023 on the sales screen, or the bill you have just been paid, with Call A023 on the Paid screen. For every order at once, use the Order board key on the table screen (see The Order board key).

Before you start

  • The outlet has an order board. At least one POS terminal of the outlet is set to the Order board mode and switched on in the back office. Without one, the POS shows no Call button anywhere. See POS terminals: Order board tab.
  • The bill is on the board. A bill is called when it has gone to the kitchen (Save & Fire), or when it has a queue number. Before that, there is no Call button on it.
  • This POS keeps its own bills. A POS that works through its Main POS on your own network has no Call on its bills: use its Order board key, and the Main POS makes the call.

Call from the sales screen

  1. Open the bill.
  2. Press 📣 Call A023 (on Android, in the row under the menu: Call A023).
  3. The line above the bill says A023 is called on the Order board.
  4. On the order board, the order moves to Ready, with the chime and Now calling A023.

  2. 📣 Call A023: the green button. Hold the mouse over it: Show this order as Ready on the Order board, with the chime. While the call is being made it waits, then is ready for another press.

The number on the button

The button says what the guests will see called:

  • the bill's queue number (A023), when it has one;
  • else the last digits of the bill number (Call 0412).

On Android, a bill with no queue number has the button Call alone.

Call from the Paid screen

At a counter where guests pay first and wait, call the number while the guest is still in front of you.

  1. Take the payment. The window shows Paid.
  2. Under Print receipt, Email and WhatsApp, press 📣 Call A023.
  3. The Paid screen says A023 is called on the Order board.
  4. Press Exit, or let it count down.

  2. Exit (10): back to the tables, or to a new bill on a POS with no tables.

What the order board does

  • The order goes to Ready, whatever the kitchen screens say, even a drink or a cake that never went to a kitchen.
  • Now calling A023 shows across the board for about 10 seconds, with the chime, and the spoken call if the board's sound is set to Chime and voice.
  • The order leaves the board as the board's own setting says: after some minutes, when the bill is paid, or when it is marked Collected.
  • If more dishes of the same bill are sent to the kitchen after the call, the call is taken back: the kitchen screens decide again, until the order is ready or called again.

The call is made on this POS first, and reaches the boards that get their orders from it at once; the cloud is told afterwards. A Sub POS asks its Main POS; if the Main POS does not answer on your own network, the call goes through the internet, and the POS says A023 is called. POS1 did not answer on your own network, so it goes through the internet.

Call again and Collected

A called order stays under Ready. To call it once more, or to take it off the board when the guest has it, use the Order board key on the table screen:

  • Call: on an order still Preparing.
  • Call again: the chime and Now calling A023 once more.
  • Collected: the guest has it. It leaves every board at once: A023 is collected. It is off the Order board.

On Android

The call is a button in the row under the menu, beside Reprint ticket and before Split bill: Call A023 with a queue number, else Call. The queue number is on the top line, under the bill's title: Queue A023.

On the Paid screen, 📣 Call A023 is a wide outlined button under the receipt buttons, and what the call did is written in a small line under it.
