Print bill
Print the bill for the guests to check before they pay. The bill as it prints, part by part, Print to the receipt printer and back to the tables, Print bill from the table window, what the paper says when the POS is offline, and every message. On the Windows and the Android POS.
Print bill prints the bill on the receipt printer, for the guests to check before they pay. It is not a receipt: nothing is paid, the bill stays open, and the table can still order more.
Before you start
- A receipt printer is set for this POS: Settings, Hardware, Printer. The bill prints on it.
- The bill has something on it. With nothing on the bill, Print bill is grey.
Where it is
- On the sales screen: Print bill, the last button of the bar under the menu, beside Save & Fire.
- On the table plan: tap a taken table, then Print bill in its window. See The table window.
- Print bill: prints the bill. Grey while the bill is empty.
- Pay RM 45.00: when the guests are ready to pay. Printing a bill first is not needed. See Take payment and close a bill.
Print the bill
- Press Print bill.
- On Windows, the bill opens as it will print (below). Check it, then press Print to POS-80. On Android it prints at once: there is no preview.
- The POS says Sent to POS-80. and goes back to the tables by itself, as ← Tables does: if dishes on the bill have not been sent to the kitchen, it asks about them first. See Leaving a bill with dishes not sent.
- Hand the bill to the guests. When they are ready, open the table and press Pay.
The bill is always this POS's own copy, with the figures you see on the screen: the same total the guests then pay. It never waits for the internet. The cloud is told afterwards that the bill was printed.
The bill, part by part (Windows)
- Bill for table T6: the table the bill is for. A bill at no table says Bill for the counter.
- The order stays open — they can still order more.: printing the bill closes nothing.
- The outlet's header: its name, address and the other lines set for the receipt in the back office (see Outlets: Receipt), and its logo when the bill format ticks it.
- BILL: says what this paper is. At an outlet that gives bill numbers at payment, it says BILL - NOT A RECEIPT, with the bill's pending number under it. Printed while the POS is offline, PROVISIONAL comes first (see What if…).
- The bill number and the time it was printed, then Table and Guests. Order type and Served by print only when the restaurant's bill format shows them.
- The dishes, as the receipt prints them: quantity, name and amount, then a second-language name, choices, discounts and promotions under each.
- Remark: the bill remark, when the bill has one. See Bill remark.
- The totals: Subtotal, Discount, Service charge, taxes and Rounding, then TOTAL in large type. On a bill with a part payment, Paid so far and Still owing follow.
- This is not a receipt., then the outlet's footer (Thank you when none is set).
- Close: back to the bill, nothing printed.
- Print to POS-80: sends it to the receipt printer, named as this POS knows it (a network printer by its address). With no receipt printer set, it says Print. While it prints: Printing….
What is on the paper, and how large, is the restaurant's bill format. See Print Formats.
The preview shows the paper at the printer's real width, so a dish name too long for the line shows here as it will print. After Print to POS-80, the preview closes and the POS goes back to the tables. If the print could not be made, the preview stays open and says why on the grey line at its top; nothing is sent until you press again.
Opened from the table window's Print bill, the preview stays open after printing, saying Sent to POS-80. Press Close to go back to the tables.
Print bill prints straight away, with no preview: the same paper, to the same receipt printer. Once it is sent, the POS goes back to the tables and says Sent to POS-80. there. If it could not be printed, the POS stays on the bill and says why; press Print bill again to try again. A USB printer may first ask for Allow on the tablet.
