Give voucher
Give a guest a restaurant voucher (one-use codes, each printed on a slip) or a member voucher (straight into a member's account) from the POS's table screen. What may be given, how many, today's limit, a manager's approval, the slips, and every message. On the Windows and the Android POS.
On this page
Give voucher hands a guest a voucher there and then: to say sorry for a late dish, to thank a regular, or to bring someone back next week. There are two kinds:
- A restaurant voucher: the cloud makes one-use codes, and the POS prints a slip for each code. The guest shows the slip on a later bill.
- A member voucher: a voucher from the Member Portal goes into a member's account. The member uses it through their membership when they pay.
What a voucher takes off, its minimum spend and how long it lasts are all set in the back office. The POS sends no value of its own.
Before you start
- A Main POS or a Sub POS. A Waiter POS has no Give voucher. On Windows, a POS that works through its Main POS on your own network has none either: give it at the Main POS.
- The internet. The cloud makes every code and the Member Portal gives every member voucher. Offline, nothing can be given (see What if…).
- Something to give. A restaurant voucher must have Can be given at the POS ticked in the back office, under Vouchers. See Vouchers: giving at the POS. A member voucher must be ticked under Member, Settings, Member vouchers the POS may give. See Settings: Member vouchers the POS may give.
- The right "Give away a voucher". It is in POS access groups. Without it, a manager approves with their PIN on the spot.
Open Give voucher
- On the table screen, press 🎁 Give voucher in the bar along the bottom, after Refund.
- If you may not give vouchers yourself, the POS asks for a manager first (see A manager approves).
- The window asks the cloud what may be given: Asking what may be given…
- It then shows the two kinds. If Member is not on for your restaurant, the Windows POS goes straight to the restaurant vouchers.
- Give voucher: opens the window. Its hover text says Give a restaurant voucher or a member voucher away, and print its slip. A System Button profile in the back office may hide it (see System Button).
A manager approves
When the person signed in does not hold Give away a voucher, a manager approves before the window opens.
- Why a manager is asked: you may not give a voucher yourself.
- PIN and Staff code (optional): the manager types their PIN, with their staff code if they like. It is checked on this POS.
- Cancel: no voucher is given; the window does not open.
- Approve: the window opens. Under its title it says Approved by Siti, and every voucher given from it names Siti as the one who approved it.

- Close: closes the window. Nothing is given.

The voucher slip
Each code has its own slip, on the receipt printer, in English whatever the POS's language:
- The code, large. The guest may read it out, or the cashier may type it.
- The QR code: the same code, for a scanner.
- For and Given by: whom it was given to (when a name was typed), who gave it and when.
The guest uses it on a later bill like any voucher: the cashier presses Voucher on the sales screen and scans the QR or types the code. See Use a voucher on the bill. Scanning the slip on the sales screen opens the Voucher window with the code already in it. Each code works once.
