QR game prizes on the bill
When a guest wins the QR game, a "This bill" prize goes on the table's bill by itself, and several prizes stack on one bill. A "Next visit" prize is a code the guest brings back. What the cashier sees, how to take a prize off or key its code, and why a prize may not go on by itself. On the Windows and the Android POS.
On this page
Guests who order with the table's QR code may be offered a short game after they send an order. A win gives a prize: a one-use voucher, such as 10% off or RM5 off. Each prize is one of two kinds, as the owner set it in the back office:
- This bill: the POS puts it on the guest's bill by itself, within seconds. Nobody keys anything. It is good until the end of today's business day.
- Next visit: the guest keeps a code and brings it back on a later day. The cashier keys it, as any voucher.
This guide is what the cashier sees of both. The game itself is set in the back office: see QR Ordering: Game. What the guest sees is in The QR game.
Before you start
- The game is on for the table's QR profile, with prizes set to This bill or Next visit in the Use on column.
- The POS that holds the bill is online. The prize is a voucher, and only the cloud can hold a voucher. A POS with no internet puts nothing on, and nothing is kept for later.
- The QR order is accepted onto the table's bill. A prize waits until the order it was won with is on a bill.
How a "This bill" prize goes on
- The guest sends an order from their phone, plays, and wins, for example 10% off. Their phone says it comes off the bill by itself.
- The order is accepted onto the table's bill (see Accept or reject QR orders).
- Within a few seconds, the POS that holds the bill checks the prize with the cloud and puts it on, exactly as the Voucher button would.
- The bill's totals change. The prize is a line of its own under Subtotal: Game prize: 10% off, in green, with what it takes off.
- If the bill is open on the screen at that moment, a line over the bill says Game prize added to this bill: 10% off. Press OK to clear it. There is no sound and no question to answer.
- Game prize added to this bill: 10% off: said once, when the prize goes on while the bill is on the screen. A bill not on the screen says nothing; its totals are right when you open it.
- Game prize: 10% off: the prize's line, with what it takes off. The ✕ beside it takes it off the bill (its hover text: Take this voucher off).
- TOTAL: already less the prize. The guest pays this. The printed bill, the receipt and the customer display show the prize as they show any voucher, in English: Game prize: 10% off.
The table window on the table screen also lists the prize among the bill's lines. See The table window.
Several prizes on one bill
Each QR order a table sends gives one play. A table that orders three times may win three times, and every This bill prize goes on the same bill:
- A bill holds one ordinary voucher (a code the cashier keys or a guest types) and any number of game prizes beside it.
- Each prize is taken off what is left after the ones before it, in the order they went on. A prize that finds nothing more to take shows 0.00; it is not used up for nothing.
- Each prize keeps its own rules: its own minimum spend, the most it takes off, and what it is not combined with.
- An exclusive voucher (one that cannot be combined with other promotions, vouchers or discounts) stands alone: no prize joins a bill that holds one.
When a prize does not go on by itself
The POS never guesses. If in doubt, the prize is not put on, and the guest still has the code on their phone. It waits, and is tried again a few seconds later, while:
- the bill's payment window or its Voucher window is open on this POS: the cashier is taking money or keying a code;
- a payment of the bill is on its way to the cloud;
- this POS has no internet.
It is tried again at most once a minute, and at most 10 times while the bill's total stays the same, when:
- the bill does not reach the prize's minimum spend yet: when the guests order more and the total changes, it is tried again;
- the cloud refuses it for another reason, such as an older POS at the outlet.
It is not put on at all when:
- the bill holds a voucher the prize may not join (an exclusive voucher), or a promotion or discount it is not combined with: the POS never answers a Use which? question by itself;
- the cashier took it off: it is never put back by itself;
- the bill is paid, voided, or put on Pay later or a deposit.
In all of these, the guest can show the prize's code, and you key it as below.
Key a prize's code
A Next visit prize, or a This bill prize that did not go on, is keyed like any voucher.
- On the sales screen, press 🎟️ Voucher.
- Ask the guest for the code on their phone, for example GAME-K7P2-QW4M. Type it, or scan its QR code.
- Press Check. The window shows the voucher, what it Takes off and what the Bill comes to.
- Press Apply. The window says the voucher is on the bill.
- Press Close.
Game reward: RM5 offGAME-K7P2-QW4M
- What is on the bill already: each voucher and prize, with what it takes off, and Remove. A line that takes nothing now is amber, with Takes nothing now: and why.
- Code: type or scan the prize's code. Upper or lower case and the hyphens do not matter.
- The check: the voucher as the cloud knows it (a game prize is named Game reward: and its prize), with its code. Nothing is held yet.
- Takes off and Bill comes to: what the prize would take, and the bill after it. If it would not go on, the reason is here instead, for example Not on this bill: and why.
- Apply: puts it on the bill. Before you check, this button is Check.
See Use a voucher on the bill for every message of the Voucher window.
Take a prize off
A guest may not want the prize on this bill, or it went on the wrong way.
- On the sales screen, press the ✕ beside Game prize: 10% off under the bill's Subtotal. Or press Voucher and Remove beside it.
- The prize comes off and the total goes back up. The Voucher window says The voucher is off the bill, and the code is free to use again.
The POS does not put that prize back by itself. The guest keeps the code and may still use it today: key it as above.
On Android
It works the same on the Android POS: the prize goes on by itself, its line reads Game prize: 10% off, and Game prize added to this bill: 10% off is said over the bill on screen.
The Voucher sheet looks a little different. Under its title it says One voucher per bill, besides QR game prizes. Checked with the cloud. Each voucher on the bill shows its code, then Game prize: 10% off and RM 4.47 off, with Take off. The box is Voucher code; then Check and Apply. A checked code says Takes RM 5.00 off. New total RM 38.75.
- The rule in one line: one ordinary voucher per bill, and game prizes beside it.
- A prize on the bill: its code, its line and what it takes off. Take off removes it.
- Voucher code: type or scan a code.
- Check: asks the cloud. Then Apply puts it on.
On the Main POS of your own network
When Sub and Waiter POS work through the Main POS on your own network, the bill is the Main POS's, so the Main POS puts the prize on. A Waiter POS or a Sub POS working through it never does; it shows the prize as soon as the Main POS has put it on.
