Price, in a line's window, changes the price of that dish on this bill: a dish sold at an agreed price, a corrected mistake, a dish the kitchen made smaller. The new price is the dish's price for one, and the line's amount follows it.

It changes this bill only. The dish's price on the menu stays as it is.

Before you start

  • Changing a price is a right: Change an item's price, in your POS access group. Without it, a manager approves the change with their PIN. See POS access groups.
  • To take money off rather than set a new price, a discount may suit better: it keeps the dish's price and records a reason. See Discount the bill or a dish.

Change the price of a dish

  1. Tap the dish's line on the bill. Its window opens.
  2. Press Price. The price pad opens.
  3. Type the new price for one, for example 12.00.
  4. If the pad asks for a manager, the manager types their PIN in it.
  5. Press OK. The line takes the new price, and the bill's totals follow.
Change price (Windows), for a person who may not change prices: the manager's PIN is on the pad.
  1. Change price: the window's name.
  2. The dish's name: the line being changed.
  3. Price now: the dish's price for one on this bill now. If it was changed by hand before, the first price is struck through in front of it.
  4. New price: the price you type, in large figures. 0.00 in grey before you type. 0.00 itself can be keyed.
  5. This needs a manager who may change prices.: shown only when your rights do not include changing prices.
  6. The manager's PIN: the manager types their PIN, and their Staff code (optional) if their PIN alone is not enough. It is checked on this POS, so it works without the internet. The manager must have Change an item's price.
  7. Cancel: closes the pad. Nothing changes.
  8. OK: changes the price. Grey until a price is typed, and a PIN where one is needed.
On Windows

The keyboard types on the pad too: the digits and the point, Enter for OK, Esc for Cancel. While the manager's boxes have the cursor, the keys type in them instead. A barcode scanned at the pad is not typed in as a price.

On the bill

A price changed by hand: the old price struck through, the new one beside it.
  1. The line: its amount at the new price, and under the amount the old price struck through beside the new one. This mark is on the screen only: the printed bill and receipt show the price the guest pays.
  • A row that shows several lines of the dish as one (Always merge) changes them all.
  • Promotions and discounts are worked out again on the new price.
  • The cloud records who changed the price, and the manager who approved it.

Lines whose price cannot change

Price is dimmed on these lines. Pressed, it says why:

The lineIt says
A kept bottle handed back at 0.00This item's price cannot be changed.
A member's registration feeThe registration fee is set in Member settings and cannot be changed here.
On a waiter POS that works through its Main POSPrice is changed at POS1.

A set meal's line can be re-priced: the new price is the set's own, before its upgrades and its dishes' choices. An open-price dish can be re-priced too. See Open-price dishes.

On Android

Change price on Android: the pad first, the manager after.
  1. Clear: empties the entry.
  • The pad has no manager's boxes. For a person who may not change prices, OK opens a second window, Change price, with This needs a manager who may change prices., the box A manager approves this price change: their PIN, or their staff code and PIN., and Cancel and Approve. The price typed is kept meanwhile.
  • A price the same as Price now changes nothing and asks nobody.
  • In the line's window, Price is drawn in the mark's colour while the line carries a price changed by hand.
  • On a kept bottle handed back at 0.00, the dimmed Price does nothing when pressed.
  • A tap outside the pad closes it, changing nothing.
