The cash drawer
Test the cash drawer, and choose whether it opens by itself when cash is taken.

The cash drawer has no cable of its own: it plugs into the receipt printer and opens when the printer tells it to. If the receipt printer prints, the drawer can open. It opens by itself when cash is taken, and with the button on this page.
Before you start
- This POS has a receipt printer, and the drawer's cable is in the printer's drawer port.
- A waiter tablet takes no money, so it has no drawer page.

As each payment by a method that opens the drawer is saved, and as a refund paid back by one is raised. Off means only the button above opens it.
A cash drawer has no cable of its own: it is wired into the receipt printer and opens when the printer is told to. If the printer prints, the drawer opens. Which payment methods open it is set on each method in the back office.
- Drawer: this POS's cash drawer.
- Opens through …: the receipt printer the drawer hangs off.
- Open the drawer: opens it now, with no paper used.
- The switch: On, the drawer opens by itself when cash is taken; Off, only the button opens it.
Test the drawer
- On the table screen, press ⚙ (Settings), Hardware, then Drawer.
- Press Open the drawer.
- The screen says Sent. The drawer should have opened. and the drawer springs open.
Open it by itself when cash is taken
- On Drawer, press the switch so it says On.
- It is saved at once, for this POS only.
- In the back office, make sure the cash methods open the drawer: MASTERS, General Setup, Payment Methods, Edit on the method, tick Opens cash drawer, then Save.
The drawer then opens when a payment by such a method is saved, and when a refund is paid back by one. When a receipt prints several copies, the drawer opens once.
If something goes wrong
- No receipt printer is set on this POS.: set one first under Printer. See The receipt printer on a Windows POS.
- The drawer did not open: …: check the printer is on and the drawer cable is pushed into the printer, then press Open the drawer again.
- It does not open after a cash payment: check the switch is On, and the method has Opens cash drawer ticked.
